Are you thinking about getting hair extensions but feeling overwhelmed? Girrrrrl I got you. 👌🏼

👆Before you do, you should know there are several things to consider before you start on the journey.

The MOST important (in my book) is to consider your lifestyle and how much time you realistically want to dedicate to your hair every day.

Here’s an example: ⤵️

If you have medium length hair you wash daily and air dry, it would be a huge adjustment to get three rows of 24” volume wefts. Why? I don’t recommend washing your hair more than 2-3 times/week with the volume weft method. You also have to blow dry the wefts completely to ensure the health of your natural hair and you don’t want your wefts to hold onto excess moisture (hello, mildew!) 🥴

Was that an intense example? Probably. But- this is why your consultation and the knowledge level of your stylist is crucial. This is also why I offer several methods! Hair extensions are not a “one size fits all.” 🖤

✨Low Maitinence/ Lived-In✨ is a hot phrase among the hair industry right now—but is it the right choice for you?

You may love a lower maintenance look if:
👉You don’t have time to come to the salon every 4-6 weeks.
👉 You love a natural look but still want brightness and/or dimension.
👉 You have over-processed blonde and want to transition into something healthier for your hair.

Take this photo for example. My beautiful guest is super busy with her family and career, like a lot of us! We did a lot of blonding at her last appointment, but for her most recent appointment, we opted for face framing highlights to keep her feeling fresh and bright. After that we did a root shadow (close to her natural color) melted into her toner for a beautifully blended bronde look. 💕

I know it’s cliche, but time really does fly. It feels like 21 was just a couple of years ago, rather than a decade. 😅

Instead of focusing on where I’m going out to celebrate, I’m looking inward. I’m gaining more clarity on who I am and who I want to be. I have so much to be thankful for, I don’t even know where to begin most days. Blessed is an understatement! Thank you all for being along for the ride. ❤️

Why am I showing this today? Let me explain! ⤵️

1️⃣ Last summer, we did a heavy full highlight. Keep this in mind.
2️⃣ Last fall, this guest wanted to start going darker and adding red/violet hues.
3️⃣ In the back of my mind I knew this guest would most likely want to go lighter again come spring, so we had a conversation. We decided using a demi-permanent formulation was best, so by the time she wanted to go lighter- her darker color would be faded and we wouldn’t be damaging the hair as much going to dark to light.
4️⃣ At her most recent appointment, she decided it was time for some light and bright again! Her hair fades beautifully with the color formulation we’ve been using throughout fall/winter. All we did for her most recent appointment was a few face framing babylights, a shadow root, and toner! Now we have a great base to work with for her next full highlight appointment.

This process is completely customizable! So many of guests will sit in my chair for the first time and say “My last hairstylist hated when I asked to change things up.” In my (possibly unpopular) opinion, THAT IS OUR JOB. A good hairstylist will inform you of the healthiest way to get you to your hair goals, and will formulate accordingly! That being said, keep in mind that some changes take more than one appointment. 👏

Let’s talk about going darker. 🎤

Specifically— darker red/violet on previously lightened hair. I know it looks easy when you’re glancing at before and after shots, but I promise it takes a lot of thought on your hairstylist’s part!

In my opinion, the most important thing to consider before going darker is longevity.✅

Is this a color you want for a good time, or a long time? ✨

If you aren’t committed to wanting a specific color for a long period of time, I will use a demi-permanent formulation. It will fade a bit quicker, but it’s much easier to switch up if that’s what you’re wanting to do!

If you’re wanting to make a long term change (and I mean 8+ months) or if you have a significant amount of gray coverage needed, I will formulate with permanent color. PERMANENT COLOR STILL FADES— it’s just more gradual. Fading largely depends on how many times you shampoo per week and the condition of your hair before your color service. The more porous and damaged your hair is, the quicker it will fade. 👏
