🎯

Today I want to give a special THANK YOU to all of the coaches out there that are making so many sacrifices to do what you do for the athletes on your team. Sometimes it feels like a thankless job with little reward. Nobody sees the countless hours you spend talking to parents, going through stats, deciding pitching rotations, deciding positions, working on schedules, signing up for tournaments, buying line up sheets, practice balls, game balls, packing up and hauling nets, tees, and equipment.

Now it's game time and you have to make out the dreaded lineup while wondering which player, mom, or dad is going to get upset if their kid is not pitching, hitting, or playing defense.

Now the game has started and you have negativity in the dugout and/or stands while trying to focus on the game. Then a player strikes out and mom and/or dad comes to the dugout and yells at their kid so now you have a player crying in the dugout while another parent is bringing their kid nachos in the middle of the game. Then all of a sudden the umpire blows a call and you have to go stand up for your team and the umpire doesn't want to listen and he restricts you to the dugout with the kid crying and another eating nachos while all of your parents continue barking at the umpire.

Next inning you give a player a bunt sign and they act like they missed the sign and swing at a pitch and hit a pop up. You say something to the player and now she and her parents are upset because the kid says "he gave me the hit sign".

The game is now over and the parents try to migrate around the huddle so they can hear what the coach has to say because he is totally frustrated that his players missed signs, eating in the dugout, crying on the field because mom and dad yelled at them, poor body language from parents and players, still pi**ed off at the umpire and the way your parents responded, and your team that you spend hundreds hours a week worrying about just got beat.

Now we do our 3-2-1 Thunder as we break the huddle and 5 parents are standing in line waiting to talk to us about positions, playing time, pitching time, batting orders, game changer stats, questioning your strategies, and how another mom on the team said something negative about their daughter.

Once you sort through all of that you have just enough time to go to the bathroom and then it's time to go gather all of your buckets of balls, nets, tees, and equipment and haul it to go warm up for the next game and do it all over again. But wait, those same people that were waiting in line to talk to you after the game are now in line at the concession stand with their kid getting something to eat and are late to warmups.

Now the kids that were on time to warm up think the others should have to sit the next game because the others were late for warmup. The problem is the kids that were late are our best players so now the coach has another tough decision to make before he once again writes the dreaded lineup.

I say all of that to say this... THANK YOU to every coach on every team for doing what you do. Without people like you these kids would not be able to do what they do and hopefully that can be the reward that you need to lay your head down at night and know that you are making an impact on many lives.

Our Carthage tourney produced us a new captain on the 2011 team!! Kaydence Harrington came to us from scrimmaging her old team where she was playing up. That team was moving to 12U and we were looking!! She came in with a big bat and an amazing arm!! Kayde is a talented kid on and off the field. Her passion for softball runs deep. She works hard and plays even harder. This kid can get a 3-0 count and come back with 3 strikes for the punch out nearly every time. Pressure is definitely her friend. She is also an amazing kid and student. Made straight A's all year. She is such a smart, funny, and talented kid that will accomplish great things in life! Y’all help us congratulate this awesome player!

New captain time for the 2013’s. This one here is another one that’s super special to me!!! Jabrie Jo Fowler, aka J-bo!! This kid was made for the dirt!! She has all the qualities needed to be successful!! She is fearless and determined! This kid has loved softball since she hit the ground! She works hard and strives to be better! She loves to be challenged & plays hard every time she steps on the field! She is a jokester and full of laughter!! There’s never a dull moment when she’s around. I am blessed to be her coach, one of her trainers and Dad most of all!

Drillers 2011 voted in our new captain last night at BP.. this one is special to me. When we vote for our new, the process involves our coaches and our current captain. I always talk last, let everyone tell me their thought b4 I give mine. Jersie was voted in by 3 and I was out voted lol. I said well it doesn’t matter what I think, even though I think she’ll make a great captain. My girls always get the back burner when it comes to their team. They arrive early to everything and are the last to leave. I make sure they are awarded when they seriously straight up earn it!! From helmet stickers, positions, and team captain. This kid is one of the hardest working on the team and it shows. Exactly why she was voted in. She has shown some of the most improvements on the team. We got home last night and I asked her if she had anything to tell her mom. She litterally talked about every situation except her’s. I kept agreeing with everything she said and was finally.. dude!! What about you?!? She said “I hit really well!” Anything else? “Oh yea! I got captain!!!” I’m very proud of the person/player she is turning out to be. Jersie girl is smart, sweet and always willing to help. She has a big heart and thinks about others before herself. She’s mature for her age and understands working hard. She knows this game takes a lot of hard work and is always willing to give it! She loves softball and each player on her team! It’s not unusual for us to hear her complimenting other girls on the team after a tournament, win or lose. She strives to be better everyday. We will be in whitehouse this weekend with Jersie at the wheel!! Y’all help me congratulate her!!

Y’all help me send our new 2013 captain Olivia Woodall and her team to Hallsville this weekend with all the luck! This time a year ago they returned with some extra gold hardware to add to thier collection! Let me tell you that Olivia expects no less this go round!! This kid is the example of what a teams’ player should be!! She is smart, athletic, humble, kind, tons of grit and HEART! She is great!! Olivia, AKA LuLu is a tiny but fierce girl. She is a natural born leader who can capture the room upon walking in. Anywhere she is, the field, playground or church she gives it 110% as her heart is the biggest part about her. If you ever had the opportunity to encounter Olivia you will never forget that smile and twinkle in her eye.

Now on to our current captains crowned this week!!! Both these players have lots of things in common!! They are super athletic, crazy coachable, hearts big as they come and they stay hungry!!! If you beat em, they coming back harder. If you want them to quit u better disable them cause they aren’t gonna stop!!!
Blessed to have them both!! They are fine examples of hustle!!!

10U
Chloe Johnson is all you need to hear for most of you!! This kid is amazing!! She’s strong, so fast and just excels at anything you ask on the ballfield. She is a flat out STUD!!! Other than softball she an excellent kid. She good people!! She loves her family, Adidas, being outdoors, and dancing while on YouTube. She loves to eat hot chips especially Cheetos or Takis. She loves to scare her big sister! I just found this out this week!! Her coach loves to scare people too!! Maybe she’ll be apart of the next scare cam!! We can’t be more happy for her to be captain for the next couple of weeks!!! Keep up the good work Chloe!!

8U
Audrey Trapp is a kid I found when playing a state tourney in cooper with Dixie ball. She was a 6U player on the 8U Cooper All Star team. If anyone knows me, they know I’m about to meet this kids family lol... that I did and I snuck her in to Hopkins county city ball through her goin to school at North Hopkins (mom teaches there). I wished I had the other coaches reaction recorded when they faced her for the first time!! I haven’t let that kid go since!! She’s an awesome athlete to say the least!! She has zero quit and just goes 110% at everything, even her little attitude lol but that’s part of why she’s so great as a player. Hard to be scrappy if your not scrappy to the core and that she is!! Off the field Audrey is a straight “A” student. She loves swimming, playing tag, the beach(shell and crab hunting), sleeping in and snuggling when she can. (Lol!!! Hopefully y’all can tell when the moms help out with thier off field accolades) She may love girly things, but she is as rough and tough as they come. She always gives 110% no matter what she is doing. She has such a big heart and gives before she takes. She lives life to the fullest each and everyday.

Girls, keep up the amazing work!!! Y’all are going places!!

Captain of the 2013 8U I let slip by without a shoutout!! This kid deserves her shoutout!! She is an exceptional athlete! Good at every sport or position she plays!! We’re sure proud to have you Mad Dog!!

Madi Kae Wilkerson 7 yrs old, 8 in May, a 2nd grader at Lamar. She's the baby in her family of 7 kids. Other than softball she also is a very talented basketball player and is 1 of the only 7yo’s i know who can do a back hand spring on a softball field in cleats and all. We wanna thank you for being such a great captain!!

We’ve got a couple of new captains crowned this week!! We started this to encourage players to step up and be leaders. Jobs include leading our warmups, plate meetings with coach before every game, breaking the team and so on!! They get a captain sticker to wear on their helmets also. It’s been a hit so far!!!

10U
Rylee Godbolt was voted in by her team at our tourney this weekend. This kid amazes everyone that sees her. She is a class act on the field and off!! She is a flat out stud wherever you play her and is the exact same student at school!! Blessed to have this kid in our lives!!

8U
Emma Taylor was voted in by her coaches last night at practice for showing the most improvement!! We really promote to our player/parents to work in your individual skills at home. Since last fall she has grown as a player more than anyone. Most of the time you know that “most improved” is not taken seriously but here it’s different. She was a heck of a player in the fall and has come a million miles from there!!

Good work girls!!
