What is a mala?
🦋 A mala is considered a sacred tool used for calming breathwork, mantras, or in modern-day meditation for affirmations.

Are there different sizes?
🦋 Yes! A traditional mala is specifically 108 beads (a spiritual number across multiple religions/beliefs), plus a guru bead and/or a tassle. You will find them in different sizes, but to be considered a mala, the bead count must be divisible into 108. My personal favorite is pictured here, the 27 bead pocket/travel mala.

How do you make them?
🦋 You can use various beads/seeds, but I prefer matte crystal beads (thoughtfully sourced). I add a larger guru bead (focused on amplification or protection), silk cord to string (tying a knot between every bead), and recycled sari silk to make the tassle.

How do you use a mala?
🦋 You sit quietly, begin breathing slowly (in through your nose, out through your mouth). Use your thumb and first finger to roll a bead between them as you take a breath and speak (aloud or silently) a manta/affirmation. You repeat this process with each bead (the mala does the counting for you) until you reach the end (guru bead).

Is there a specific name for mala meditation?
🦋 Mala meditation is called Japa, which is a sanskrit word meaning to repeat or mutter prayers and mantras.

This is a beautiful, very personal & soul calming practice.

🦋 Accredited Sound Healing Cert, expert level.

How do I book a session?
🦋When we are up and running, I will post here with a link in my bio to book.

Will I need to bring anything when I attend?
🦋 Just yourself. The studio will be set up with meditation mats, blankets, pillows, bolsters, eye masks, etc.

Do you offer any other services/products?
🦋 Yes! I hand craft meditation kits, tools, and other items to support your practice. I attend local markets and have products available locally (), online, and in the studio when you visit.

What is a pocket mala, you ask?

The simple answer...it is a breathwork tool used in meditation & mindfulness practices. 🧘‍♀️

I use sustainably sourced matte crystal beads, silk cord & recycled sari silk to create the tassles. 🦋

All handmade by the girl who just loves pretty things and all roads that lead to peace. 🫶

Owning a small business while being at the peak of your (day job) career is no joke.

We tend to share the fun parts on social media, but the behind the scenes work is far from picture-perfect.

Today, I was surrounded by many women who have done the same. I was encouraged by their stories, lessons learned, and solopreneur guidance.

Meditation can change your life for the better in a myriad of ways, from reducing stress, anxiety, burnout & depression, to increasing happiness, joy, creativity, and productivity. 🙌

I will continue to grow and learn so I can better help myself and others through this beautiful modality. Currently working on an MTT 100 (Meditation Teacher Training), for this very reason. 🙏

I LOVE these candles, and they overwhelm me (SO much work) at the same time. 🤦‍♀️

The cons...this is a long list, so I will summarize by saying they are DIFFICULT in every way, until they are done. 💛

This is where the love comes in. They are beautiful, organic, and burn longer & brighter, like the sun. They release negative ions, which clean the air (my asthma appreciates this).
