It's been 23 years, but I remember the call like it was yesterday... ๐บ๐ธ
I was working as a morning show DJ at KSCQ FM in Silver City, NM when the station's office phone rang a little before 7...the office phone NEVER rang that early, so I went to pick it up and it was the station's owner on the line...
"Tom", he said..."you gotta turn on the TV, some idiot just flew a plane into the World Trade Center". Confused, I questioned, 'what' and he told me the same thing again. ๐ฅด
At the time, no one realized it was a commercial airliner that crashed into the building and more importantly...not a sole knew our country was under attack. ๐ณ
I watched in amazement as a second plane came crashing into the South Tower and then into the Pentagon. Shortly after the first tower collapsed, we then heard the news of a downed plane over a field in Pennsylvania, the brave passengers preventing another attack, and our lives were forever changed. ๐ข
I vowed, like many of you to never forget that day and I haven't. ๐ฏ
So today, I'm keeping my promise and remembering that fateful September Day with this photo and my story. Police Recruiting stuff can wait til tomorrow. ๐
