It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of Ron McNett, a key team member who made significant contributions to dynamometer technology, impacting everything from motor sports to industrial applications and even emissions testing.

Ron brought passion, dedication, and unparalleled expertise to our company, leaving an incredible mark on everything we do. Working behind the scenes as a control, hardware, and embedded software engineer, his innovative spirit and tireless work ethic helped shape the products we still sell and service today. Ron was the key developer of the Super Flow electronics and WinDyn Software, starting in the late 70’s on the first SF-901 to the current WinDyn platform being sold today.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ron was a cherished colleague and friend whose kindness and generosity touched everyone he met.
We extend our deepest condolences to Ron’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. Ron will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to live on in the work we do and the values we uphold.

Rest in peace, Ron. Thank you for everything.

Congratulations on your retirement Steve Brule'!

It’s the end of an era. The dyno brain is retiring. Steve Brulé, who you know from the Engine Masters show and many years of magazine stories, is a friend and mentor. Yesterday we calculated that we have been testing engines together for 25 years…but yesterday was the emotional last time.

My buddy Sam Strube (left) stepped up his build schedule to get his 582ci Chevy done in time to ensure that he could get it tuned by Brulé, and he walked out with 997 horsepower. I let him call it 1,000.

Westech Performance Group remains open for engine and chassis dyno testing and tuning with all the normal staff that’s been there for years, and we’ll see them in upcoming shows.

Unrelated to Brule’s retirement, the Engine Masters TV show is not in production, at least for the short term. The entire back catalog is available streaming on Discovery+ and Max, plus they still air on MotorTrend cable TV.

It’s impossible to measure how much we have all learned from Steve Brulé, or the impact he’s made on the horsepower industry. Few people are as deserving of a hearty, “I love you, man.”

On this Memorial Day weekend, we pay tribute to the courageous individuals who lost their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifices grant us the freedoms we cherish today.
