The quality of the essential oil you are using is very important. Like most things, the better the quality, the better it works.

Many factors determine the quality of an essential oil.

1. Is it really what the bottle says it is?
Sometimes synthetic oils or a different cheaper oil is substituted.
Sometimes it is diluted with a carrier oil - but that is not noted on the bottled. Example: 10% Frankincense with 90% vegetable oil.

2. Different parts of the plant have different properties. Oil from the leaf is not the same as the bark or the whole plant.

3. How was it distilled?
It should be cold pressed or distilled with low steam. High heat is faster and cheaper - but destroys the effectiveness. Stripping the oils out with chemicals is cheaper - but it decreases effectiveness and the chemical residue remains.

These are a few of the many reasons. I use Young Living essential oils. I trust their quality and effectiveness.

I went to Utah to see some of their farms, their distilling, packaging and distribution centers to be sure I was making the right decision.
