On Saturday, I attempted a 50 mile race for the first time. I didn't finish along with 30 other runners. Going from 50 degree temperature to 80s temp was a shock to my system. 84 degrees with not much shade and crazy hilly for a lot of the course. I now know that Eastern Washington has really extreme weather. Before we reached hot Winthrop, we were passing snow on the side of the street. I did manage to run my farthest run of 35 miles (Some called it quits earlier, 35% dnf) and the most hilly course I've ever ran. Before stopping, I had already tackeled the biggest ascensions. The downhill running portion was punishing once I had more hills to climb. Learning from the ultrarunners on the course. When it is hot run with little shade. I will need to actually wear a shortsleeve tech shirt and a cap that protect my ears and neck, monitor my hydration better and don't be afraid to dump cold water on my head and shoulders. Also, although the cut off time was 18 hours. I had an even shorter time limit of less than 11 hours because my crew was trying to rush home due to it being
Mother's day weekend and the drive home was about 5 hours long. In the future, I will attempt this race again, but I will make sure that I have a crew that can stay 2 nights.

With my own training. I ran 50 miles in 2 days. I'm recovering faster after marathons and technical races. 8:32 duration for 50 miles. With 9600 ft gain at my mountain 50 miler. I will see how I do on my debut 50 in less than a month. Taper starting now.
Today on my 28 miler journey, I wanted to see if I could start on rolling hills and finish with rolling hills. I did it!! Juggling full time work and 50 miler training. Still sick going on 2 weeks now. At Deception pass trails which was 4300 ft gain. I told myself during the trail marathon race. "Just do a training run since you have to blow your nose and cough through out the race". I didn't know my result until today. I still managed 5th female overall and 1st in my division. Pretty technical, it is good prep for my 50 miler. 3 miles today on first day back to running.
Cross country course with part trail and flat paved course. Last race I was healing my knee wound from falling. Today, I conquered the course 1st place master female. 3rd F overall. My right knee wound from tripping on pave- ment felt all the way healed since yesterday. Feeling better each day. I was ready to reintegrate speed back into my run schedule. During my work break I did 15 minute abs to de-stress. My co-worker who has known me since I was a little kid said to me "you always eat so healthy". I try. Work/run/grocery shopping. 8 miles in 1:04. What a difference it makes when you're healed.
When you become one of clients, I provide a program that fits with your training needs. Some runners want to run nearly daily, and others can only fit in 3-4 days for running. In the final months of 2022 I became a marathon maniac. Nov 6th, Nov 12th, December 10th marathon racing. What kind of run goals do you have in 2023?
