Primetime River Fest Artist Shoutout🎶🤘🏼

GET EXCITED to see the one and only Chris Blevins! 🎸

Chris Blevins didn’t want the clock to run out on his music career. He was working at a post office in his hometown of Henryetta, OK, writing songs and performing at small venues on the side, but his hobby started to pick up. He started driving to Tulsa to gig at night after long work days and formed a backing band to help develop his original material. However, working full-time didn’t leave much room to progress as a musician. After Blevins considered recording his bluesy folk-rock sound, he knew he’d have to choose between his job or his music. “Something had to give one way or the other, and I made up my mind that it was not going to be music,” Blevins said. “I made up my mind that I was not going to give up on it.” He remembers the exact date — Dec. 19, 2016 — that he left the post office and became a full-time musician.

From that day on, he channeled his blue-collar roots out of the workplace and into a debut album, “Better Than Alone,” which dropped Aug. 18, 2017 via Horton Records. Chris Blevins returns after his 2017 debut “Better Than Alone”, this time with collaborator, Chloe Beth, and a dedicated band that has been growing as a unit behind his well-crafted tunes. This Tulsa-based songwriter is known for his authentic delivery, weaving tales of everyday life, honesty, and the frailty of the human condition. “Grief, Love and Other Gifts”, released April 23rd 2021, is a sincere expression of how it feels to be here. Good, bad, and all the points between.

FRIDAY JULY 9TH PRIMTIME RIVERFEST ARTIST SHOUTOUT!👏🏻🎤

We could not be more excited to announce the performance of Tahlequahs own RC & the Ambers!

Forged in the heart of a dying star, RC and the Ambers are an Americana Honky-Tonk Band from Tahlequah, OK. Formed by RC Edwards (founding member of the Turnpike Troubadours) and long time friend and collaborator Amber Watson.

The core lineup of the band consists of Edwards on guitar and vocals, Watson on vocals, and a zydeco rub board, Justin Kay on vocals, mandolin and porch board, Nicholas Pitre on vocals, upright bass, and foot tambourine and Lance Roark on vocals and lead guitar. All of this combining for a sound that is both cosmic and country. Big harmonies and foot stomping sing alongs combined with Jim Beam and Champagne create a show you won’t soon forget.

In the Fall of 2020 RC and the Ambers recorded their first album with fellow Turnpike Troubadour and all around bad ass, Hank Early, at Pine Curtain studios in Tahlequah, OK.
Early’s first foray into producing did not disappoint. Hank mixed and mastered the record, while also playing a majority of the instruments.

A long time fixture of Turnpike shows was Edwards taking center stage for a song or two to sing crowd favorites such “Drunk, High, and Loud”. Fans have requested a solo record for years and it has arrived...

Primetime Artist shoutout! 🎤

After many years of belting from the stage of a church, J.R. Carroll found himself persuaded to step into secular music for a change—first by posting covers on twitter, then originals to YouTube and later Spotify. He quickly found an in with the local Tulsa, OK, and Texas Red-Dirt scenes, writing and playing shows with the likes of Tanner Usrey, Jordan Nix, R.C. Edwards, and Blake Allen Lillard. In Carroll’s short-but-expanding career, he’s played many bars, outdoor stages, and even historic venues like Tulsa’s own Cain’s Ballroom.

Along with playing shows, Carroll is creating new recorded music out of Jean Pump Recording in Tulsa, OK. With a voice raised to carry hymns and the Holy Spirit, Carroll’s songs deliver an emotional and evocative environment that listeners quickly take heart with. Carroll has moved audiences with his EP, “Long Story Short,” two studio singles, and many other originals which are found in live performance videos online.

Artist shoutout-

The Damn Quails started as a weekly jam session between two Oklahoma songwriters. Gabe Marshall and Bryon White met for a weekly gig that soon attracted all kinds of characters playing various instruments. These sessions quickly attracted a crowd, a semi-stable line-up was formed, and The Damn Quails were born. The band released their first record in 2011 entitled “Down The Hatch”. Since then, the band has firmly established itself as a touring entity hell bent on spreading their brand of music as far as possible.

The Damn Quails carry on the great Oklahoma tradition of songwriting that draws from countless genres and has produced many memorable songs, bands, singers, and moments. They are proud to be part of such a rich musical heritage. They have taken their cue from their musical predecessors and forged their own and style that they loosely refer to Folk Rock.
