Awe yeahhh! Florida State women’s tennis coach, Anne Davis.

On this day 43 years ago (April 5, 1981), Florida State women's tennis rolled past Texas Tech at the Lady Longhorn Classic in Austin, 7-2. FSU took all three doubles points before Suzanne Doumar, Gigi Boesch, and Penne Nieporte all won in straight sets to seal the victory for the Seminoles.

The win gave FSU a seventh-place finish in Austin. The Seminoles opened the event with losses to Trinity College and North Texas State. That, however, didn't stop FSU from having a splendid season. FSU finished 21-14 and as Metro champions under second-year head coach Anne Davis. It marked the first Metro title for the program.
