“Follow your passion” may sound like good advice. In reality, pursuing and perfecting what you do well is your best path toward success in life. It helps to have the tenacity to push on past failures, disappointments, and reinvention.

In his pursuit of aerial photography, Gerald Tookes has drawn inspiration from the many, notable contributions the Tookes family has brought to Tallahassee across several generations. In 1948, his grandmother Dorothy Nash Tookes founded the Tookes Hotel in Tallahassee to accommodate black visitors who could not seek lodging at other establishments because of racial segregation. In addition, Ms. Tookes was the first certified teacher in Leon County, and the founder and first principal of the Bond School.

Among the very first to be licensed by the FAA as a drone pilot, when Gerald founded Gerald Tookes Aerial Productions, it was with that same trailblazing determination to create opportunity for himself, for his clients, and for all those who would follow in his path. He knew that there is no substitute for hard work and smart work.
Gerald will talk with Brien about the many challenges he faced and the amazing events and people who were part of his journey toward success.
