The Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee (UUCT)
Seek. Share. Belong. "Are you a Unitarian and don’t know it? You are welcome in this religious home.
Do you believe that striving to live a wholesome, useful life is more important than accepting religious creeds and doctrines?" This is the text of our first newspaper ad that drew the first 12 people to a meeting in Tallahassee to discuss Unitarianism on November 6, 1953. Today the UU Church, which was built in 1967 on Meridian Road is a thriving community of members and friends. Our community fo

Ingathering & Water Communion
Sunday, Sep 01 2024 at 11:00 am Rev. E.N. Hill
Join us for our annual Ingathering and Water Communion, a beloved Unitarian Universalist tradition that began in 1980 as a ritual of empowerment. This year, we are excited to collaborate with Robert Allen of Rhythmic Roots for a special service that incorporates sound healing. This addition will honor the origins of the Water Communion and provide a collective expression of our shared values and experiences. Together, we will reflect on the power of community, the strength that flows within each of us, and the enduring connections that unite us all. This is a multigeneration service, all are welcome. If you are able, please bring water to contribute to the Water Communion. For those who need it, water will also be available on-site for the ritual.

Join the freethinkers Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM via Zoom for First Light: Revealing the Early Universe
At the time of the Big Bang and for just under 400,000 afterward, the universe was too hot for light to shine through. The first light emitted after that time interval is referred to as the Cosmic Microwave Background or CMB, still detected today. It carries the signatures of the early universe's physical processes, including that the Big Bang actually happened.
Our program features Dr. Chris Lintott, who explains information about CMB in more detail and the implications and associated controversy or tension surrounding the subject. He is a Professor of Astrophysics in the Department of Physics at the University of Oxford, and, since 2023, Gresham Professor of Astronomy at Gresham College, London. Dr. Lintott has an impressive background in educating science and astronomy. He is involved in a number of popular science projects aimed at bringing astronomy to a wider audience and is also the primary presenter of the BBC television series The Sky at Night, having previously been co-presenter with Patrick Moore until Moore's death in 2012.
