Here is another one of my favorite pieces of equipment. The Bosu! Exercise with the Bosu requires you to use all those important balance muscles that are so important to prevent falls as we get older. It also adds to intensity. Imagine kneeling on the Bosu and doing Bicep curls for example. In this case you would not only be using your biceps but you would be engaging your core muscles. We all know that exercise is good for weight loss, helping with sleep and protecting against diseases like diabetes , heart disease and high blood pressure. But too often the powerfull impact it can have on our mood is overlooked. Exercise can have an immediate impact by releasing endorphin giving us that “runners high” and it can improve our brain function . Neuroscientists have also found that exercise supports cell growth in the hippocampus which can have help relieve depression. It may be hard to push through when you really don’t feel like it, but why not start slow with something you enjoy and see how you feel when you are done.
