46 years ago today, AC/DC released their fourth* studio album, POWERAGE. Shortly thereafter, the record peaked at #133 on the Billboard 200, and later received gold and platinum awards in 1981 and 1990, respectively. It was also the first AC/DC album to feature Cliff Williams on bass, who was hired by Angus Young because he thought the bassist's good looks would attract more women to their concerts! 🤘

Head way back to early 2006 I was bar hopping with some friends and happened into Carlies in Largo, low light biker bar place. I had just started Maximum bands a few months before, looking for bands.. Had 2 tributes literally then on the roster. Was focused on wedding bands lol

On stage was this raving madman comedian incredible singer with his AC/DC tribute band tearing it up like I had never seen.
The mix of showmanship, comedy, in your face rock ...blew me away. Met them and quickly got some gigs happening.

They blew up rooms and events so much that buyers demanded more tributes! Problem was nobody was like them.
The EFFORT they put into grass roots marketing was unmatched, flyering cars in movie parking lots in every town they went to with “Funny Money”, Craiglist and Myspace posts.. you name it. Just to get bodies in the door.

They really helped me build the tribute market in the south east. Back then there were a handful of tributes, mostly touring acts, nothing really in FL except The Caribbean Chillers and Nuthin’ Fancy both had a huge part in the surge of tributes too!

I had to build tributes from duos like Fleetwood Max or Alter Eagles, I was there at the start of these bands still playing to huge crowds!

So give a big kudos to Martyn keeping Highway To Hell alive all these years through member changes and MADNESS.

This Friday they are “home” at Quaker Steak and L**e for the Full Throttle Motorcycle Expo at Quaker Steak & L**e
