Taylor Summer Festival
City of Taylor Summer Festival
APRIL WINE: April Wine, a noted Canadian band first formed in 1969 and now made up of Brian Greenway, Marc Parent, Roy “Nip” Nichol and Richard Lanthier highlighted the musical offerings on Saturday, June 29, at the Taylor Summer Festival. The band played leading up to the annual fireworks display. The band has released 15 studio albums, three live releases, numerous compilations, a boxed set and thousands of concerts. They played such hits as "Just Between You and Me", "Sign of the Gypsy Queen", "I Like to Rock" and "Bad Side of the Moon" among many others.
STANDING ROOM ONLY: SRO-Standing Room Only opened the Taylor Summer Festival on Saturday, June 29, on the Taylor Ford-sponsored main stage in the Sheridan Open Air Pavilion. SRO was established in Detroit in 2009 and is a four-piece group consisting of classic rock music and original material. It includes Mark Ponder (keyboards/vocals, Randall (Skunk) Forster (bass/vocals), Steve Stefanski (guitar/vocals) and John Ponder (drums/vocals). The group did a great job performing a wide variety of rock hits from the 1970s.

NOW THAT WAS A HIT PERFORMANCE! 38 Special brought its signature Southern Rock sound to the Taylor Summer Festival on Friday, June 28. The group has had many Gold and Platinum album awards and continues to stand the test of time. With sales in excess of 20 million, a loud, enthusiastic crowd enjoyed arena-rock pop smashes like “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more. Since 1976, the band has released more than 15 albums. They sounded great on Friday night ... Don't forget: It's April Wine hitting the stage on Saturday, June 29 along with special guest SRO-Standing Room Only. Then come the annual fireworks presented by the Rotary Club of Taylor. Be there!
THE HIDEAWAYS: The Hideaways band made a strong appearance right between the Dave Fio Band and featured performers 38 Special on Friday, June 28, at the summer festival. Here are some photos from their performance.
DAVE FIO BAND: Taylor's own Dave Fio, a former contestant on "American Idol", kicked off the summer festival's Friday, June 28th concert with a bang. The popular Fio, who is not only a gifted singer but has also beaten his share of personal problems, drew a huge crowd in the concert's lead-off spot, likely the largest in at least a decade. His bluesy, raspy tones and down home interaction with the crowd was a big hit throughout his half-hour performance.

THE FINALE! LAST NIGHT LOOK BACK: Here's a review in pictures of country sensation Frankie Ballard, who took the stage last during the Taylor Summer Festival Saturday night. It was fireworks evening and Frankie lit the fuse. Ballard put on a high-energy performance that the crowd just fell in love with, from "Sunshine and Whiskey" to "Young and Crazy." Great performance! Enjoy ... and we'll see you next year with more great acts at the summer festival.
LAST NIGHT LOOK BACK: Here's a review in pictures of some of the onstage talent at the Taylor Summer Festival Saturday night, which was fireworks evening. This is Danielle Bradbery, a young country pop performer who is known for being the youngest winner of "The Voice" at just 16. She thrilled the crowd by singing some of her favorites, including "Sway" and "Stop Draggin' Your Boots." Enjoy!
Taylor Summer Festival carnival is open today from 12pm - 7pm The carnival is located inside Heritage Park, Taylor, MI.
All day ride wristbands $25.
LAST NIGHT LOOK BACK: Here's a review in pictures of some of the onstage talent at the Taylor Summer Festival last night. This is Gin Blossoms, an alternate late '80s-'90s band that originated in Arizona but made its real mark on MTV as one of the format's most popular offerings in the 1990s. Gin Blossoms' best songs have never died, unlike other bands. Great performance. Large crowd was really into it - and a shout out to Lenore for her special announcement at the end of this album (from all of us in Taylor, congrats!). Remember, the festival is open all day today with the Recoil Fi****ms fireworks at dusk, and country stars Danielle Bradbery and Frankie Ballard onstage. Enjoy!
