There seems to be no end of MSP and cybersecurity-focused conferences with more added seemingly every year.

Many of these conferences share a similar look, feel and focus. Others surprise you with a significantly unique personality all their own. The memorable ones set themselves apart from the rest for better or worse.

This week we are at in Orlando and in just the first few hours I’ve already appreciated the intentional focus on ethics, emphasis on treating people on our teams and those we do business with, well. Being of genuine use to your teams and your clients. Adding authentic value. Living well personally and carrying that through into how you do business. And, of course, offering only the most excellent cybersecurity services to our clients.

Off to a good start for our first experience with IT by Design.

If you’re a business owner and you’re not following the ongoing MGM ransomware attack, you should. A ten minute social engineering conversation after a quick LinkedIn search by threat actors has brought a $33 billion+ company and 30+ resorts to a halt. All of the money spent on cyber tools won’t stop threat actors from compromising your staff. The human element is so vulnerable. MGM cyberattack claimed by ALPHV/BlackCat ransom gang | Cybernews New information claims the ALPHV/Black Cat ransomware group is responsible for Monday’s debilitating cyber attack on the Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International.

For the last couple of days, we’ve had the unique opportunity to join Idaho National Labs and a joint task force from the Departments of Homeland Security, Transportation, and Defense at the Atlanta airport’s Emergency Operations Center for their Aviation Cybersecurity Initiative.

It’s been a great two days getting to train with these guys (with a special focus on wireless evaluation and security) and see the inner workings of a large international aiport, their approach to securing our nation’s aviation ecosystem, and how private sector cybersecurity contractors can be a value add in the process.

And the takeaways are directly transferable to our private sector clients as well.

So interesting to see the cybersecurity principles we’ve been learning, developing, and integrating into our cybersecurity offering for the last three years being embraced by those in the public sector as well.
