The ladder fits! I wasn’t worried about it fitting in the space. A simple tape measurer can tell@me that. I was concerned that o wasn’t going to be able to fit the ladder in the room. I had to remove the fridge to make it fit, but it works. Now it’s at the powder coater. To leave it raw is not only ugly but it would constantly leave a residue on the homeowners hands whenever they climbed the ladder. Painting it is not really an option as it would run off to quickly. Powder coating is expensive ($200-300) but the best option long term. It is important to do 2 things when installing hood insert: 1) Make the duct air tight all the way through the roof. 2) Function check it when you think you’re done You must make it air tight because this will be blowing greasy air. Grease will be able to leak into the hood if not air tight creating a potential fire hazard. I made every joint of this air tight as I built the hood. This one last joint remained. Machine claimed to have a self-sealing joint but I don’t trust that to actually work, so I taped it with metal tape. I function check it to@make@sure the flaps open and close completely. These flaps function as a defense against birds entering the hood.
