We chose Citrine for the month of August because of the warmth it projects and that its color ranges from a sunny yellow to a soft yellow-warm brown, kind of like the way August leads us to Autumn.

Citrine, also known as the “Light Maker” is:

• Not common in nature - typically produced by heat treating Amethyst and Smoky Quartz.
• Derived from the citron fruit, which is similar to the lemon
• A hexagonal crystal system
• A hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale
• Strengthens inner light
• Sparks creativity and imagination
• May exacerbate aggressiveness
• Associated with the solar plexus chakra

Citrine is the birthstone for the month of November, often confused for Topaz. It is known to help with self-confidence (which could be one way it exacerbates aggressiveness), as well as helping with emotional control (I’ll take 10 please!). It is a powerful cleansing stone, so it is used to help spiritually, as in self-improvement and inspiration, and also physically as in helping with bladder or thyroid problems. Citrine is a well known stone for depression, harnessing the power of the sun to blast away negative energy.

Even though Citrine doesn’t always need cleansing or recharging as much as some stones, pay attention to how much you use your Citrine to make sure it does still get any clearing it may need. And as always, make sure your intent for the cleansing is clearly stated, that way your crystal will know it is getting a break.

The crystal for the month of April is crystal quartz. This a great crystal to talk about right now too, as it is a very efficient healing stone – both physically and emotionally.

Crystal quartz, also known as rock crystal or clear quartz is:
• The most bountiful mineral on Earth
• Composed of silicon and oxygen
• A hexagonal crystal system
• A hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
• Programmable
• An amplifier

Crystal quartz is kind of a jack-of-all-trades stone. It has long been used for enlightenment and healing. You can use quartz for simple things like charging water, to more complex uses, like an energy grid. Quartz is often used for jewelry or wands due to their terrific ability to amplify energy and sync with other crystals. They are used for opening chakras – working well with all 7 of them.

It is important to remember to program the crystal with the energy you wish it to amplify, as this will affect the way it works with, and reacts to, the energy around it. It is also super important to remember to cleanse your crystal quartz from time to time as this stone absorbs and stores the energy it’s around. It's a great starter stone for those new to working with crystals!
