Packing up orders today! One of the less glamorous parts of having a small art 🖼️ business, but totally worth it. Each artwork order receives their painting or print in an archival clear sleeve, a certificate of authenticity and a handwritten note from me thanking them for their purchase. It's the little touches that means so much to me, so I try to do the same for my customers.😊

It's my final day of my online sale! Featured here is a pretty yellow rose, "Peace" variety with plenty of texture and gold scrollwork. Each painting begins first with drops of alcohol ink layered with gold and green ink (see pic). It gives a watercolor effect to the canvas. A gold leaf style brush pen adds the tiny embellishments and the flower is painted on top.

Would look terrific sitting on someone's nightstand or side table. Frame not included.

It is good to try new things.

I am somewhat fearful of trying something new when it comes to my art. I reach for the familiar, the tried and true techniques I could practice (almost) with my eyes closed. I think, and think and think so hard when I'm trying to paint my very, very best.

But it's good to try new things. When in the company of fellow creatives who inspire you, encourage you to push past your comfort zone, exploring new things becomes an adventure-- a journey into finding a new part of yourself.

And then, when it happens, it is better than you could have thought possible, because the thinking was pushed aside, and instead intuition broke through!

Tonight, I was so glad I tried something new.

I finished this painting last night in the company of fellow artists who I am also fortunate to call my friends.
This oil stayed behind as I said my farewells. I'm so happy it has a new home with Brenda Sutton Rose, who has been graciously hosting our little paint get-togethers. Brenda and I share a kindred affinity for farms, the country and the land that is so special here in South Georgia. I'm happy you love your new painting Brenda, and I was just as happy to give it to you my friend! ❤️

Two beauties

My Belinda's Dream rose bush gave one last show before it began to winter this year. As mild as it is, my Mr. Lincoln roses have begun to bloom again but not my Belinda's Dream. With the weather turning colder later this week I expect I won't see them until the spring!

I won first place today at the ARToberfest Plein Air competition! I am grateful for this win and for the opportunity to do what I love on such a beautiful day like today.
Congratulations also to my friend Cris Lawson who won third place with her lovely painting of a Victorian home in downtown.

Here we go!

Work in progress for this 8 x 10 oil. Currently a little dark, I'm gradually building up the layers on this rose, vase and if you can make them out, pearl earrings and pearl necklace. Still a good bit to go but so far I'm loving the loseness with this dark canvas background layer underneath.

"Generous Gardener" 4x4 mini oil painting

This species of rose, "Generous Gardener," features soft pink inner petals and very, almost white, light pink outer petals. When backlit, the fragile, thin outer petals look almost grayish blue, except for where the light shines through.

This painting has thick, creamy layers piled high like frosting. I used a combination of brushes and palette knives to create this effect.

"Generous Gardener Rose" 4x4 mini oil painting

This species of rose, "The Generous Gardener," features soft pink inner petals and very, almost white, light pink outer petals. When backlit, the fragile, thin outer petals look almost grayish blue, except for where the light shines through. When fully opened, its multi array of stamens has a waterlily look.

This painting has thick, creamy layers piled high like frosting. I used a combination of brushes and palette knives to create this effect.
