There’s a reason for that cheap price.

This is a long post, sorry. If you are searching for a PROFESSIONAL hood cleaner, you need to read this.

A couple weeks ago, this job came up. I had seen the roof and fan, but had no idea, until we opened the chimney, there was 1”+ of polymerized grease covering 80% of the chimney! New customer, I’ll spare the details, as I will be their new service provider. It will take 2-3 cleanings to get it up to OUR standards. It had been 2 weeks since the previous provider “cleaned the hood”. 2 weeks!
The hood itself looked good, not 100%, but I’m sure we occasionally miss a spot or to, or the hood dries and there’s a smear. The chimney and fan showed a COMPLETE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM and an obvious failure to comprehend NFPA96, fire code. I would estimate the build-up being at least 2yrs old, maybe 3. Meaning, it should have been cleaned 8-12 times over that period.

All told, including SHOVELING grease off the roof, which is irreparably damaged by grease dissolving the asphalt shingles, we removed 10GALLONS of grease. By comparison, I usually scrape off a quart, maybe two at a large volume restruant.
Your choice of Hood Cleaner, matters more than most think. That was 10 gallons of FUEL. High btu, fuel. Directly above the heart of your restaurant. 10’s of thousand of dollars setting right beneath. Quality is not cheap. Cheap is not quality.

Still love to stop at the end and admire a properly cleaned hood. If your hood does not look like this, in the morning after your “hood guy” cleaned, you need to call me immediately. Honestly, if the part you can see is not nearly perfect, what do the hidden sections look like? (Just ask, I’ll be happy to come take pictures of “the morning after” of my competition’s “cleanings”. Only then can you really tell what you are paying for).
