I've been browsing magazines again! I found this cute pattern in the latest issue of Fons & Porters Quick & Easy Quilts. I did embellish the border by making HST's out of the cut off corners from the blocks and putting them in the border and down the center back. I used 3 fabrics - front & back. The magazine used a solid red & white. Super easy pattern called "Flutterbye". I used the Emily design in a purple thread.

My Story

Thought I would share a little of my quilting background with you! I made my first quilt top in the 8th grade (somewhere in the mid 1960’s) and my grandmother, Ora Hornbostel, quilted it for me. I still have it although it is a little ragged now! That was followed by being gifted with quilts for high school graduation and my wedding by grandma and one of my Great-grandmothers. Once my 2 kids were born in the early 1980’s, I started making quilts for them and myself - all hand quilted. I loved hand quilting, but it took forever and eventually some carpal tunnel started moving into my hands & wrist - really slowing the process down! About 8 years ago I bought a nice, mid-arm machine that allowed me to do free motion quilting, but of course, you are limited to the size of quilts you can do. Finally, 5-6 years ago I drug my husband to a quilt show with the intention of buying a simple long-arm machine. The nice thing about being married to someone who always buys the best version of everything, is that we walked out of there with my fully computerized quilter - priced fairly comparable to the new BMW motorcycle he had bought a month earlier:) I guess we evened out! It opened up a whole new world of quilting for me and I decided to start my quilting business - both to share what this wonderful machine does and to help make it economically feasible! The picture at the top is one of my favorite quilts. The white framed blocks were made by Grandma Ora and were given to me by my mom after grandma died, along with the blue border fabric she had with the blocks. I made the 25-patch blocks to put with Ora’s blocks and so have a quilt made by the two of us! I hope you enjoy looking at the posts of the quilts I have been able work on for some of the most wonderful quilters ever!
