There are firsts, there are seconds, and then there are "duck tomatoes"...not a whole lot of quacking to be heard while they're chowing down!

Roasting peppers for our salsas! Mild and Medium are back in stock now. Hot Heirloom and Salsa Verde are next.

Wait for it...boom! We're pretty excited about our new mulch-making operation over here. We're using this machine to flail mow our grassland, collect it and dump it where we can use it as mulch in the market garden. In organic farming we talk about living as well as dead organic matter. Both are good, and this is a way to add living OM to our pathways, as well as to crops where appropriate. Gardener tip: you can do this with a push mower if you have the right attachment. We've been using a Honda with a bagger for years, but this new Peruzzo covers a lot more ground. If you want to beat the Memorial Day weekend crowds at market, stop over to our self-serve farmstand today. We're fully stocked with fresh greens and herbs, as well as all the other good food from our farmer-friends. And the greenhouse is open with lots of the tomatoes, peppers, and other organic seedlings. We're open Tuesday-Saturday from 10-6, self-serve. Thanks and enjoy this beautiful day!

Catch-and-release...of an impressive but unwanted visitor in the duck house. We tell the whole story in our email newsletter this week. Sign up tonight on our website for the whole scoop! And get your online orders in by Wednesday at midnight for pickup Friday at the @merrymeetingkitchen or Saturday at the farm.

Picking greens on this beautiful day and as always, feeding extra to the ducks! They clean-up imperfect lettuce leaves real quick...and cabbage trimmings, and sprouted organic barley from Tyler Yost, and all the fresh rests that we try to provide to round out their diet of organic grain from Morrison's (VT) in the winter. The video shows them in the "solar barn" greenhouse on a deep bedding pack of straw, but they also have free access to an attached yard of wood chips in the open. They work hard to lay those eggs, and we do the best we can to make them comfortable all winter long!

We got a new well at the farm for irrigation, and we couldn't be more satisfied with the job Scott Temple Well Company Inc did for us. Call Scott if you need a job well done. He treats his customers right. He's busy, but there's a reason he's in demand!

Sound on: ducks marching in for dinner...and making more noises than just "quack" -- Maybe they're imitating the frogs...delicious duck eggs from these ladies tomorrow at @brunswicktopsham farmers market! 8:30-12:30 at Crystal Spring Farm.
