Hey MC superfans. Here’s another post to the grid to remind you to obsessively listen to our magnum opus Don’t Die Trying (2021). Today we’re zooming in on the very last song on the record “California Sun”.
Here’s another one that could’ve been a single, if we had the time or money to promote singles. I really wanted to end this record with one last kick of energy, while still having a bittersweet ending, which I think it achieves. This is one of a few songs of ours that can be described as “navigating a break up while living in Torrance” and bonus points if you worked at Borders. Hopefully this song strikes a chord with some of you with low attention spans that didn’t make it past that piano interlude with the spoken word part (which is also very sick, you’re wrong).
I guess it’s Bandcamp Friday again? Which can only mean I remembered to make one of these posts again. It can also mean that in the spirit of holiday giving you want to directly give back to your favorite band for finally putting out your favorite record of all time. Anyway.
So today’s edition of “Deep Dive Trying” centers on a little gem called Caroline. Pedal steel on the track. The melotron? Justin’s vocals? Get out of here. Some people say it’s their favorite and I’m not mad at it.
We told you it was going to get rowdy. Thanks to all who came and made it feel like Long Beach in 2011. Thanks to .la and for being amazing and making it the trifecta of guitar oriented indie rock that it needed to be. Thanks to for ruling. Thanks to and and .nog for letting us use your amps. Thanks to for joining the band mid-set and being insisting on an extended encore. Long live Merry Christmas.
