You know when you start to mix it and the cold foam slowly mixes in with the coffee making the most perfect swirls?

Swipe for the before pictures my guest sent to me as part of her virtual consultation, you'll see that she was starting off with a very chunky and slightly orange color.

What I did to give her a more blended look was re-highlighted where I could, a shadow root to give her a gentle grow out and get rid of the rest of the orange and then an all over gloss to even out her tone/add shine.

I know. I know.

This is a bold claim but just hear me out.

There is an audio that I can't remember exactly how it goes, but it goes something like "I do xx because it makes me feel good and when I feel good I'm nicer" you know the one.

So with that logic in mind:

You get your hair done and feel awesome.
Because you feel awesome you're happier.
When you're happier you're nicer.
By being nicer others around you are happier and subsequently nicer as well.

So you see it's a whole circle of life scenario in which getting your hair done is good for everybody ☺️

Let's talking lighting 💡

All of these pictures were taken right after each other. All I did was move closer to the window in my room.

Okay back to the mistake you might be making...

Not using the correct thermal protector 😱

If you are blow-drying your hair you'll want a cream, like Shibui's Taming Lotion or Alfaparf's Blowout Balm.

BUT if you are airdrying and then styling with an iron you'll want a spray, like Alfaparf's Thermal spray or IGKs Good Behavior. (And yes it should be reapplied everyday the iron touches your hair)

Now the real question is which is your favorite? The 4th one is giving me Hermione Granger vibes and I'm kind of here for it 🤣

Just over here still obsessing over this color I did for my beautiful guest Grace.

Our goal for her hair is to keep her as bright as possible without doing an all over bleach and tone, which basically translates to lots and lots and lots of foils 😅

But that doesn't mean she gets a full foil every time. This time I did a partial to keep her bright and we plan on doing another partial + a few around the back hairline at her next visit.

I like to have a plan for the next few visits, even if we don't schedule them all out, just so you and I have a game plan on how to get to your hair goals or how we are going to maintain it once we get to it.

Does that mean you can't change it up? Of course not! But it's a good idea that way you don't come in before you need to or wait too long.

Want to keep your hair healthy during the summer?

Here are my top 4 tips:

1. Wet your hair before getting in ANY water. The ocean, pool, river, creek, puddle in your back yard 🤷‍♀️ wet your hair down and then put some leave-in conditioner, a mask or hair oil on.

2. The sun and heat really do a number on your hair and just like you need to drink water your ends need moisture too. So do a moisture hair mask at least twice a month.

3. Back to tip 1, if you're going to be outside I also recommend at the very least keeping your hair in a ponytail but the best would be a bubble ponytail, bun or braid(s) to protect your ends.

4. It's summer time and idk about you but I don't want to be any hotter, temp wise at least 😉 than I have to be. So I'm embracing more natural looks, claw clips and styles that don't touch my neck.

If natural styles aren't an option because of frizz and you want to reduce it look into a smoothing treatment like Hair Botox or my new line Shibui has a treatment that lasts up to 3 shampoos. Both are great options depending on what you want to achieve.

✨Summer balayage✨

Still obsessed with this gorgeous color 😍

In the past, with other stylists, April has struggled with finding the right amount of blonde and ends up coloring her hair all over dark 😩

So through our consultation we decided that a rooty balayage would be the best option for her.

Why this works for her is because keeping her natural root color helps her to not feel "too blonde" but being an almost solid blonde through the ends gives her the brightness she wants without feeling like too much 😍

It's a win-win!

As always my goal when doing a big transformation like this is to keep your hair as healthy as possible which is one of the reasons I will recommend doing sessions to work your way lighter.

By breaking it up into sessions you give your hair a 6-8 week break where you can help nourish your hair with proper at home maintenance so that when we go to do the next session your hair is just as strong as before.

Plus you get to enjoy a few different colors/tones along the way!

I know. I know. It's been a little while and I really don't have a good reason for dropping off the face of the internet besides I've been busy. The best kind of course!

Ya'll are keeping me busy behind the chair and I couldn't be happier but really I want to bring you more than just pretty hair pictures so I've been taking some time to think up some information that you might actually want to know 😊

So get ready for more of my super funny videos and some good information that might help you have the best hair around 😉

Or at the very least you'll be really entertained.

Omg have you guys been loving this weather? THIS is why I live in Florida! It's spring time and the outside is just 👩‍🍳💋 (chefs kiss Incase you don't get that😉)

The only downside to spring is that soon we will start to have all that wonderful humidity, which means frizz 😑

So I highly encourage you to start thinking about how you want to combat it this year.

There is the classic -

✨ Smoothing treatment. I use hair Botox which is similar to a keratin treatment but instead of the harmful formaldehyde it's made with amino acids, collagen and keratin. It lasts between 3-6 months depending on lifestyle and products.

Or the other options -

✨ Styling products. Most of these are heat activated so if you choose to go this route it means you're still going to at least blowdry your hair which I know not everyone wants to do when it's already hot outside. But I will say a simple cream or spray is definitely a great option if you don't mind a little styling every once in a while.
