Fourth of July fire safety for visiting the forest Fourth of July screams camping, picnicking and enjoying the great outdoors — and a popular spot for all of the above is Mt. Hood National Forest.
SHARE 🐱Multnomah County Animal Services is reminding all pet owners to take extra precautions this holiday weekend. Although Multnomah County and many cities have banned or limited fireworks, many people still celebrate with fireworks. Fireworks can be terrifying for our pets, causing stress, anxiety, and even leading to them running away.🐶
As high temperatures are forecast beginning July 4 and rising through the weekend, pet owners are also reminded to protect their animals from heat-related stress and illness by providing plenty of water, keeping them indoors, watching for hot asphalt and never leaving a pet in a car.

🔥 Heat Advisory 🔥
Stay safe and cool, everyone! A heat advisory has been issued and the temperature will exceed 80 degrees on June 25 and June 29.
Please limit your outdoor activities and take necessary precautions. The Mt. Hood Community College Environmental Health and Safety Team recommends staying indoors and using air-conditioned vehicles during this time. Keep in mind that certain factors can increase the impact of heat, such as direct sun exposure, consuming alcohol, and high overnight temperatures.
Be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion and what to do if you or someone you know experiences symptoms. Symptoms include feeling faint or dizzy, excessive sweating, nausea or vomiting, muscle cramps, rapid or weak pulse, and cool, pale, or clammy skin. If you experience symptoms get to a cooler place, drink water, take a cold shower if possible, or use a cold compress. If someone is unconscious or has a temperature above 103 degrees Fahrenheit, call 911 immediately.
