Practice schedule:

Thursday December 21 No Practice.
Wednesday Dec 27th practice from 5:30-7 for kids going to Canton tournament only.
Thursday Dec 28 5:30-7 open for anyone.

Please come prepared to work, no more horseplay, no more only giving 50%. There is an opportunity for matches/tournaments every weekend. It’s time to start putting in the effort at practice to make those matches easy.

Tonight at 5:15pm we have some peewee matches happening at the commons building. Come on out and support the kids, stay and support the junior high and varsity. These athletes put in so much work week in and week out. Let’s show our support.

This is Wednesday nights line up against S. Tioga. If your on the roster please arrive at Commons Building no later than 5:00pm, wrestling will start at 5:15pm.

Canton’s tournament is Dec 31. New Year’s Eve. The club covers the cost of this one. If you are interested in attending and participating please get me name, age and experience by Tuesdays practice. I need to know who all is going so I can get you all signed up. Canton has been a great supporter of our tournaments, and would be a some to see a good tournament for them.

Team! Blossburg tournament is this Sunday. It is posted on pywrestling. Please get signed up if planning to attend. This is for Sunday the 17th, take note it is a split start. Would like as much participation as we can as they will be in full support of our tournament. Let me know here or on band app if planning to attend by Thursdays practice.

Very proud of the wrestles who participated tonight! Each and everyone of them fought hard battles. Nothing to be upset with. Some went our way and some did not. We will continue to work and become better each and every time we step on the mat.

Always remember at the end of the day having good sportsmanship means more than the numbers on the score board. We don’t boast our wins, and we don’t cry for our losses. We take notes mentally about each and every match and improve from there. Even the best wrestlers continue to improve day in and day out.

Team practice is Tuesdays and Thursdays but nothing stops you from practicing at home, watching technique drills on YouTube, or asking questions to the veterans wrestlers. You will get out of this sport what you put into. Now we continue to put in the work. See everyone tomorrow night at 5:30.

Would like to wish our junior high and high school wrestlers Good Luck tonight. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing some practices and I know you all are ready. Keep focused, and leave it all on the mat.

With that said I want to remind the jr wrestles who were given exhibition matches to come ready to battle, have a good mindset, and no matter the outcome be proud of yourselves. Creed, Deegan, Blake, River, Mariska, Braxton, and Walker. We got this. Listen, Learn, Apply!

Tuesday night we will be discussing the Athens tournament on Dec 10. If you are interested in attending please get with one of the coaches about registering on pywrestling. We will get singlets, and weights figured out for the ones participating. See everyone Tuesday at 5:30.

Now a message for the kids. Thank you, I’ve been getting nothing but positive remarks from parents, volunteers, and past coaches about how good we look. It’s because of all of you athletes. Your hard work, dedication, and desire to improve makes me love being a part of this program.

There is nothing like a room full of kids, learning the best sport there is. Practices are underway for Troy Jr Wrestling.

Reminder!!!! We DO NOT have practice tonight. Again, if Troy area schools do not have school, we are unable to practice. See everyone Thursday.

Due to unforeseen reasons we are going to try and get done closer to 6:30pm tonight. So please be here closer to 6:30. A coach/volunteer will be in the lobby with the kids awaiting pickup.

We are still on for practice tonight. 5:30-7. Weather appears to be staying warm enough to not freeze. Pending a school wide cancellation of sports we are good to go. With that said, parents choice always trumps, so if you feel it’s too risky by all means go with your intuition. Will not affect anybody if they miss. Don’t forget water bottles.

Popcorn order forms and money will be due Dec 7. Please bring forms and money to practice that night.

Wow!!!! All I can say. Packed room, a lot of youngsters learning the craft. Cannot wait to see what this year has in store for our team. With continued practice, commitment, and heart we will see amazing results. Can’t wait to see everyone Tuesday night. Thanks again to our amazing coaching staff.

Coach Zack, and Coach Kyle spent tonight cleaning, sanitizing, and prepping the room for the season. We are as excited as our athletes to get this season going. A few things to expect at practices:

1. You get out of the sport what you put in. There is nothing for free.

2. Wrestling can and sometimes will be painful, it’s part of the sport. If you listen, and pay attention, injuries can be preventable.

3. We as volunteers were not ever ranked wrestlers. We do our best to keep up with current happenings in the sport and attempt to teach to the best of our abilities.

4. Wrestling can be a fun, exciting sport. However, it’s not all going to be fun and games. We won’t have time to correct bad behavior every few minutes. We expect the athletes to be paying attention, minimal chit chat, and focus on the task at hand. 3 strikes and you will sit and watch practice.

5. We expect respect to each other, the coaches, and also to the equipment. (Mats, doors, benches, and loaned shoes)

6. Continued bad behavior will result in time off from practice. Each wrestler should practice good behavior inside and outside of the room. With limited time, and limited coaching we can’t continue correcting bad behavior.

7. Again, practices are closed to the public. Coaches will have access to parents phone numbers if needed, but we need the sole attention of each wrestler to get the most out of practice.

8. Wrestlers will be responsible for bringing their own water to and from practice. If disposable bottle, it must be labeled with name, and discarded at the end of practice.

As always we can have an exceptional year. Can’t wait to see everyone at 5:30 on Thursday Nov. 9th.

The wrestling season will now begin Nov 9, 2023 with our first practice.

Originally we were hoping for starting on the 7th, however, with many of our athletes being soccer players as well, I don’t want to mess up their banquet. So we will push practice back until Thursday the 9th.

Again Thursday night I will do a short q&a with parents to go over a few things, and also, please arrive 10-15minutes early to allow time to get shoes, and outside clothes off and ready to begin at exactly 5:30.

Announcement:

Practice will begin Nov 7, 2023 at the Intermediate school Mat room. We will practice Tuesdays and Thursdays!!! With enough interest we will dedicate Wednesdays to girls only practice. If you’re on the fence about signing your child up bring them to a practice and let them try it out. Practices will be from 5:30-7pm. Please arrive early enough to begin conditioning promptly at 5:30. Also, practices will be closed to parents; wrestlers, board members, and coaches will be the only ones allowed in the room.

Alpron Park is where it’s at!!! Currently set up accepting registration for the 2023-2024 wrestling season. By the office/ticket booth at the picnic tables. Stop by and sign up, bring a friend.

Tonight’s registration will be held at Alpron Park near the office/ticket booth from 5:30-7pm. Please reach out if you would like to sign up and cannot make the time. Other arrangements can be made.

It’s that time of year. Time for Troy JR wrestling signups. This year we will be holding signups at Alpron Park due to many of our athletes participate with the Football program. Our first sign up day will be this Wednesday Oct 11, 2023 from 5:30pm-7:00pm. I will be set up with a couple other board members. I will provide registration forms also. The cost will remain the same for one athlete $40, and if siblings it’s $20 each additional.

A quick reminder…. We still have not received all the singlets from prior wrestlers! The cost is $50 per singlet if not returned. Get with coach Zack, or myself ASAP to get these turned in.

Also, the Troy JR wrestling board will be looking to fill some vacancies this coming year. In order for this program to continue and grow we need volunteers willing to step up and help these kiddos better themselves in the mat room.

As rewarding as it has been to help coach the kids, and watch them accomplish so much for the last few years, I will be stepping down. My children have aged out and are continuing on with other sports that I’d like to enjoy being present at. I will continue to be around and help anyone willing to volunteer and help this amazing club so please reach out with any questions.

Notice::::: Anyone still with a singlet please make arrangements with me or another coach to get turned in ASAP. The cost of these will be charged if not returned.

Sometimes a simple thank you just isn’t enough. I am lost for words today. An absolutely huge thank you to each and every person who helped make the 1st Annual Weed-Parker tournament a success. From the setting up, concessions, registration, admission and any thing I may have missed all you volunteers killed it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Notably, in response to the tragic loss of one of our own in the district, please remember no practices are ever mandatory. As coaches we are prepared to talk to any of the kids about any needs during this difficult time.

The Troy Jr Wrestling club would like to send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, coworkers of Ms. Woodward. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

With the tournament fast approaching, I’m reaching out to friends, and families of the club in regards to concession related donations. Baked goods, candy bars, drinks, hot food items. Any and all donated items are 100% profit to the club. These kids have worked hard this year and will be showcasing all the long nights at practice on 2/26/23. Please reach out if you have or plan to donate anything to help club costs not be substantial. All donations will need to be at the commons building no later than 7am on the 26th or I can meet with you to get earlier.

Tomorrow’s practice 2/1/23 is limited to wrestlers competing this weekend at either wellsboro or wyalusing. Going to try to focus on these kids for a night and see what happens at the tournaments. Thank you.

Reminder.... due to prior commitments, coaching staff will be greatly limited this weekend. Please know that doesn’t affect you from entering any tournament you want. Parents in this regard please be prepared to help coach your child. Unfortunately we are not able to be multiple places at once. Just got a message from Wyalusing coach regarding their tournament Sunday, the cutoff for registering is tomorrow so if you intend to wrestle there please sign up ASAP.
