Antique Settee and club chair. I custom designed the two complimenting fabrics with the stripe as a wrap around on the backs and one the foot board adding double welt. Black Siesta Chair by Ingmar Relling for Westnofa, 1970s
Just refurbished these beautiful Westnofa Siesta Chairs! The veneer was missing on almost half of one of the arms so I spliced a piece of veneer from one of the lower legs and attached and blended to repair the arm. All of the arms and legs had veneer raising so they were reglued and clamped before sanding to a smooth finish. The wood was very thirsty as the previous owner had left the chairs out in the elements. I conditioned with linseed oil allowed to sit for a few days before applying another conditioner. I selected a beautiful black cherry oil stain to compliment the black canvas sling seat and sealed with a semi-gloss lacquer finish. I buffed these for hours to bring out the beautiful wood grain. ( I actually love plaining and sanding so it was enjoyable to watch the grain come to life!) The existing canvas was dyed with a black ink in order to recycle and reuse and new Paracord cording was used to reattach the canvas. These chairs will last the owner a long time and compliment the existing mahogany furniture in her home
