Last, but absolutely not least, we have the amazing Jewel Mideau! Jewel is a complete ROCKSTAR at Pima. She told us, the "most insane and creative project I'm working on currently is the Chef Jeff project, which will bring the Food Network's Chef Jeff Henderson to Tucson. On May 5th, we will host PCC's Culinary Arts' first ever cooking competition, to star 4 teams (1 local professional chef, 1 PCC culinary arts student, and 1 dual enrollment culinary arts student per team)." Each team will compete for the chance to compete against Chef Jeff and his team, LIVE, at the end of the event. That's some amazing #leadership, #initiative, and #creativity right there. Women's History Month is coming to a close! But we still have a few more #WondrousPimaWomen to highlight today. First up, we have Hannah Irwin! Hannah is a student and the president of the Diversity and Inclusion Club on campus. Right now, she's working with club members on letters to administrators urging them to increase the availability of gender neutral bathrooms on PCC campuses and to change the college's current mascot. Meet Emma! Emma is a Pima student who is truly engaged in her campus community. She serves as the Secretary of PCC's Diversity & Inclusion Club and the Treasurer of the Pima Cares Club. 💥 She is ALSO the activity lead for a weekly "Stress Transformation Hour" - a safe space for students to have conversations about mental health and offer/receive support from their peers. Missy is an Advanced Program Manager with the Pima Center for Transportation Training. She works on initiatives for autonomous vehicle upskilling and dual enrollment for commercial driver license (CDL) training. Josie is the Acting Dean of Distance Education at PCC. She's currently working with the Center for Learning Technology and PimaOnline Department Heads to offer quality online courses for Pima students 🖥️ , coordinating the Pima Design Challenge with Student Life 💡, leading the College's strategic OER goals efforts and, along with that, reducing course materials costs for students 📚, coordinating Pima's involvement in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Faculty Fellowship 🍃, and, of course, teaching and practicing yoga! ⭐ #WondrousWomenWednesdays #womenshistorymonth #PCCWomen #WomeninHigherEd #PimaWomen #PCC
Savannah is a Pima student and current president of the Native American Student Association (NASA)! One project NASA is working on right now is an educational presentation about the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited People. They hope to educate, inform, and spread awareness of this ongoing issue. Savannah is also a member of the Honors Club and is working on the 5th annual R.I.S.E. for Homeless Veterans event, which will take place later in March.
