It's truly a beautiful sight to witness the bond between a bride and her bridesmaids and a groom and his groomsmen. It's a reminder of the power of friendship and the importance of having a solid support system in our lives. As a wedding florist, it brings me so much joy to see these relationships celebrated and cherished on such a special day. It's a reminder that love extends beyond just the couple getting married but also to the people who have been there for them every step of the way. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I have been waiting until Valentine's Day to share this wedding. The joy that Katy and Nathan have for each other is infectious. And who doesn't love the hot pink and red on the infamous day of love?

Today is a day to celebrate love, a love to create, a love of self in all your parts, a love for purpose and passion, a love for couples, a love for relationships, a love for masterpiece and mess, a love for destination and journey, and a love for believing bigger.

One of the things that I love about The Bridal Garden so much is you! I love getting to know the bride in front of me and the person you are. I love speaking into your life and praying for you. For me, that process helps me to interpret the flower designing process and design for you. Creativity is such an integral process. It reflects you and what you have dreamed your day to be like. But also, it is a reflection of my creativity and holding you in that space. That is at the heart of what I want The Bridal Garden to be. So, really, it is about you and what you mean to me.

One of my favorite things this time of year is attending open houses. My daughter Marin and I invite you to see us at the open house at this coming Sunday, Dec 11 from 2:00-5:00 pm. We love preparing the flowers to showcase at these events because we can peruse the flower warehouse and pick flowers that excite us. It is thrilling to choose a color palette of our choice and create to our hearts' content.​​​​​​​​

Today is my 20th wedding anniversary with this guy. Over the years, we have seen triumphs, heartaches, and everything in between. However, the sense of clarity I claim that we are on this adventure of life together makes every memory we have accumulated together worthwhile. When I made a covenant with this man all those years ago, I didn’t know he would call forth the best version of myself. Having the privilege to grow in strength and unity with him has been one of the greatest joys of my life. This bond of marriage with him has seen some stumbling roadblocks, but because this teammate of mine demands me to be more of myself, not less, this connection is seemingly indestructible. As I reflect on who I want to be in another 20 years, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is by his side.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
I celebrate that our bond has grown so much that we created two other human beings to manifest that love. And since life is an accumulation of memories, I couldn’t imagine life without my family. Thank you, Donovan (and my girls), for being you and for growing yourself and cherishing me. Thank you for reaching deep and loving hard. Thank you for your loyalty and devotion. I pray that the next 20+ years are filled with blessings beyond measure.​​​​​​​​

Want to know one of the things I love about being a wedding florist? The joy the bride experiences when she sees her vision come together. When she walks into the reception, and the room is decorated with florals, or when she shouts in delight at her bouquet. It just makes me feel like 😊.​​​​​​​​

Cascade bouquets are making a comeback. If you look closely at this one, there are blueberries tucked in between the flowers. One of the things I love about this color scheme is the different shades of the same color. From white to blush and from red to burgundy, this bouquet captures the essence of reds. For me, it's like painting with flowers. I have an oil painting degree from . I may not pick up my paints very often, but I sure pick up a lot of blooms.

I love tulips. I love how they have a mind of their own and how they arc and move. I am looking forward to cooler weather and tulips, which love cooler temperatures.​​​​​​​​

Why do you ask? Because I get to do what I love. I have built a career out of being creative, and I couldn't imagine a better life. I feel like I am lying in a field of clover every single day.

I would beg to differ. Often, my feet pass by buckets of tulips as I work with them in my workshop. I weave between the buckets like a dance. When I get to a venue like , I tiptoe underneath the vase as I lift it onto the table. The tulips bend down to kiss me on the cheek. 😂

February is the perfect time of year to add a touch of tulips. I picked up some this week at the wholesaler that had a fringe tip. It is fun as a designer to play with tulips. They open and close depending on the ambient temperature. When they are in the cooler, they close up. When they are out in the sunshine or warmer temps in my shop as I am working with them, they open up, only to close back up when they get stored in the cooler again for the wedding day.​​​​​​​​
