Whether you subscribe to the belief that you live every life, you live a hundred lives, or you live only once, the meaning is the same: you are a unique expression of existence. And so is every expression you offer. Art is our way of communicating that which can only be felt. Can an algorithm approximate life? Of course! But in a way, so are we if we quit doing what brings us joy, catharthis, and connection. My 6yo will continue to cover my fridge in her drawings. My best friend will continue to crochet. An elderly woman from my church will keep making quilts. All of these things are expressions of love and have MEANING. AI. The Market. The Algorithm. These are false gods. You must instead idolize the art of creating things that only you can make, that communicate with your heart. Someone out there will be happy to hear your message. ❤️

There's more time in the day ⏰️? The sun is shining outside 🌞? The end times are right around the corner 💣? You may or may not also be on the sliding scale of optimistic to nihilistic like I am, but a disruption to the normal operations is always a good reminder of just how much we rely on these platforms for our content, news, entertainment, communication... I'm not always quick to respond. I may read and not remember to reply for weeks, depending on the circumstances. I try to remind myself that just twenty years ago, you had to wait until you got home at night to check your messages. You had to leave notes for your family members when you left the house. Sometimes, you waited for letters to come in the mail, and then weeks would pass before you got a reply delivered by that one cute mailman on the horse (that last one may have been a little more than 20 years ago). The point is, forced breaks can be a good thing. ✨️Magic and relationships and great ideas✨️ are still fluttering all around us all the time; we just have to look up. 💕 (... but IF you're like me and take comfort in play acting disaster for a little while, you can always check out my dystopian nightmare, 📚 Wild Things Will Roam 📚)
