Summer registration for our military community at ORU.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Chaplain (2LT) Pascal Buma. Chaplain Buma was a member of the Oklahoma Army National Guard and was selected for their Chaplaincy Candidate Program. He was on orders at his Basic Course in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina when he collapsed during a morning PT session earlier this week. He is survived by his wife and unborn child. Pascal had just started his Master of Divinity program at Oral Roberts University, and was on a leave of absence to complete this Chaplaincy training. Originally from Cameroon, Pascal emigrated to the United States and earned his resident status. He had a love for Jesus and his new country, and was excited for the opportunity to serve other soldiers. We will share more information on his memorial service as we receive it. Happy Hump Day!!! Eli and his friends stopped by the Welcome Center and they were more than willing to shout out our ORU student veteran and family members. As today is the final day to complete Spring registration, we currently stand at 301 registered students (this is both our residential and online modalities) with six more almost complete! This would be our highest Spring number ever, and our overall unduplicated number of registered students is currently at 393, another all-time high! Heavenly father, we ask for your help for our remaining six students needing to complete registration today. Remove all obstacles, take away any anxiety and stress, and allow them to take their final steps in finishing. We pray all of this in Jesus' name, amen! What a great day!! With more than a few "prospects" still completing registration, I wanted to provide an update on our student veteran & family member numbers for Fall 2023 (residential & online). As of this writing, we currently look like: Residential: 46 Veterans & 104 Family Members (150 total) Online: 76 Veterans & 66 Family Members (142 total) 292 students are twelve more than we had registered for all of Fall 2022. When you account for three more online terms, we are going to blow away 300 registered students in short order. For unduplicated numbers (those who have taken courses since Summer, we are currently sitting at 347. Last year, we had 331 unduplicated students. It's never too late!!! We just hit our 199th registered student veteran and family member for Fall 2023! We're talking active duty service members using DoD Tuition Assistance, National Guard & Reservists using their MGIB-1606 Selected Reserve benefits, Veterans using Chapter 31 Vocational Rehab & Employment or 9/11 GI Bill benefits, military spouses utilizing ORU's new online discount, and sons and daughters using Chapter 33 or 35 benefits.
