We are excited to announce the publication of the latest PrecisionBIOME® research paper in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences MDPI.

"Surface Topography, Microbial Adhesion, and Immune Responses in Silicone Mammary Implant-Associated Capsular Fibrosis" examines the relationship between silicone mammary implant surface roughness and its effects on antimicrobial inflammatory responses and proteome adhesion in wound environments.

NGS microbial analysis using PrecisionBIOME® revealed the microbiome associated with different silicone mammary implants (SMIs), exploring SMI topography-dependent microbial colonization.

We are very proud of our PrecisionBIOME® team for their contribution to this investigation over the past few years, and would also like to thank Ines S. and everyone else for their work on the paper.

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our journey towards transforming cancer diagnostics: Pangea Laboratory has been granted Breakthrough Device Designation by the FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) for our Bladder CARE™ Assay.

This non-invasive epigenetic assay has been approved for the quantitative detection of bladder cancer and Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma (UTUC) DNA from urine specimens, utilizing the unique Pangea collection device. Our assay is poised to complement the current standard diagnostic procedures for the initial diagnosis of bladder cancer and UTUC in patients presenting with hematuria and suspected of having either cancer.

This recognition from the FDA is a testament to our team's unwavering commitment to advancing cancer diagnostics and underscores the potential impact of the Bladder CARE™ Assay in improving the accuracy and speed of urothelial cancer detection, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.

Our sincere thanks to our research collaborators at USC Urology - Dr. Siamak Daneshmand, Dr. Hooman Djaladat, Dr. Gangning Liang, Dr. Alireza Ghoreifi, Dr. Sanam Seyedian, Dr. Saum Ghodoussipour, and everyone whose work has helped us achieve this breakthrough.

This Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, we're thrilled to share that the results of our joint work with the USC Institute of Urology was acknowledged and cited under "Future Directions" in the inaugural AUA/SUO guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Non-Metastatic Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma (UTUC).

Considering that approximately 30% of UTUC patients have a history of bladder cancer and 8-13% have concurrent bladder cancer at diagnosis, this recognition underscores the importance of research and innovation in improving the detection and treatment for urothelial cancers.

Bladder Cancer is more common than you think - every year, there are over 80,000 new cases diagnosed within the USA. As with all cancers, early detection matters.

Bladder CARE™ is a non-invasive test that can significantly detect the presence of cancer cells at a minimum concentration of 0.046% cancer cells in urine samples, which is the equivalent of 1 cancer cell for every 2,200 normal cells. Preliminary data has shown that this novel biomarker-based test can detect bladder cancer cells 7 months ahead of cystoscopy.

Any of these symptoms could be early warning signs of Bladder Cancer:

- Hematuria (blood or blood clots in the urine).
- Dysuria (pain or a burning sensation while urinating).
- Urinating frequently.
- Nocturia (feeling the need to urinate multiple times during the night).
- Urgency to urinate, but inability to pass urine.
- Unilateral lower back pain (pain on one side of the body).

The Bladder CARE™ Test is a non-invasive quantitative test for the detection and surveillance of bladder cancer from urine samples.

Bladder CARE™ measures the methylation level of three bladder cancer-specific DNA biomarkers. Changes in DNA methylation are early events in cancer formation and allow Bladder CARE™ to detect the presence of the tumor earlier than other tests.

Clinical studies for Bladder CARE™ have been performed in collaboration with the Institute of Urology at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. To learn more about this test and our free trial, get in touch with us today: [email protected]

11/11/2022

Bladder CARE™ is simple, fast, and non-invasive by design.

The whole process consists of three steps, after which a report is generated:
1) Urine samples are collected comfortably at home (or at the physician’s office, if preferred) using the provided Urine Collection Kit.
2) After the sample is received by Pangea Laboratory, DNA is isolated from the urine.
3) Bladder cancer biomarkers are analyzed with a qPCR reaction that delivers results in just a few hours.

11/09/2022

Why Offer Bladder CARE™:
• Non-Invasive: Simple urine sample collection which minimizes patient discomfort and saves time.
• Superior Sensitivity: With a sensitivity of 93.5% Bladder CARE outperforms other commercially available bladder cancer tests.
• Early Detection: Bladder CARE™ detects cancer recurrence 7 months before cystoscopy, allowing physicians and patients to take important decisions earlier.
• Compatible with Remote Testing: Urine samples can be collected conveniently at home, increasing patient access to screening and monitoring processes.

11/07/2022

The five-year recurrence rates of bladder cancer range from 63 to 75%, depending on the stage of the original tumor. Because of this, proper surveillance matters.

For most patients, testing is recommended at 3, 6, and 12 months in year 1, every 6 months in year 2, annually in years 3-5, and afterward as clinically indicated.

We have developed Bladder CARE to make monitoring more convenient and comfortable for patients. Samples for this non-invasive test can be self-collected by patients at home and sent back to our lab for processing. To learn more about this test and order a free kit for your practice, visit pangealab.com today.

November is Bladder Health Month, and we encourage you to take control of your bladder health with these key steps:

1. Speak up! The earlier you speak to your healthcare provider about any issues you may be experiencing, the sooner you can manage or treat any symptoms effectively and get tested for related bladder conditions. To find a provider offering the Bladder CARE test, get in touch with us today.
2. Stop smoking. To***co use greatly increases your chances of developing bladder cancer.
3. Drink plenty of water. The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is 15.5 cups a day for men and 11.5 cups for women.

PrecisionBIOME® can detect pathogens that are difficult to grow and unculturable organisms for a thorough, unbiased, agnostic detection of infectious agents found in the specimen. PrecisionBIOME® testing can be highly useful when applied in cases of acute infections, before the onset of antimicrobial therapy, to determine the causative agents of an infection more quickly and accurately.

Medical practitioners in otolaryngology, podiatry, wound care and gynecology who would like to try this test for themselves can email [email protected] to request a test kit for their practice.

When detected at an early stage, the chances of surviving Bladder Cancer is high. However, low-grade bladder cancers also recur frequently, and require consistent surveillance.

Scientists at Pangea Laboratory are developing a completely non-invasive urine test that can help with the early detection of Bladder Cancer, so patients can get more timely care.

Licensed healthcare providers who are interested in joining the Bladder CARE™ trial can learn more on our website.

If you are a patient and interested in the Bladder CARE™ test, please ask your doctor to contact us.
