After defining my “why,” I set out to determine my “how” and my “way” of getting started on my weight loss journey. As I shared before, I struggled with yo-yoing weight all my life, where I would go through years of being thinner, only to gain the weight back (and then some), and turn around and do it all over again. I realized I couldn’t keep doing the same thing and expecting different results. This time, rather than focusing on a quick fix with short term results, I decided to take my time to make changes that would last my lifetime.
First, I started by honestly acknowledging where I was beginning my journey. It had taken me 4 years to gain the weight, so I had to be realistic in understanding that it would take time to lose the weight in a healthy and sustainable way.
Second, I used what I had by identifying the strengths I already possessed that would help me on my journey. My love of learning allowed me to get lost in reading articles about weight loss and transformation stories, and my planning skills allowed me to organize all the information I learned into a few simple action steps to get me started.
Third and last, but not least, I focused on what I could do rather than on the barriers and challenges I was facing. I chose to keep my initial action steps simple by setting just 3 things to get me started on my journey, which I will share in my story to come.

If you haven’t started yet, I encourage you to embark on the journey as you are, and trust that you already posses within you all that you need to change.
