Feeling spicy today 🌶️ As a lymph drainage therapist, the amount of misinformation (ugh don't like using that word but...) that I hear about effective therapy and the industry is quite high, and continues to increase each year as new therapies are developed. Felt compelled to share this today after an experience this week with a client who was post surgery and had been receiving treatments with lots of oil at her doctor's office, where she experienced quite a bit of pain and the intention was to squeeze excess fluid from her drain holes 😵💫 Allow me to be clear, I am definitely not trying to get down on therapists who target the lymphatic system in different ways. However, I think clients should be aware of that treatments of this nature, while they can seem to show physical results, are often moving the fluid around more than they are encouraging the lymphatic system to actually process more fluid as part of the body's healing mechanism. All of the lymphatic drainage treatments we offer here at the clinic are gentle, and this is of the utmost importance especially with post-surgery clients. They are in pain, their skin is both slightly numb but oddly sensitive, their body has just been through a major trauma, and they are swollen.
