John 3:16-17
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him”.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who showed up to our collaboration event PERIOD. on Thursday. Don't let the conversation surrounding vaginal health and periods die. Special thanks to the Mighty Mu Eta of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. for co-hosting.
Before we let go of Black History Month, we’d like to share some Penn State History. Soror Lynne Samuels is the first black female gymnast on Penn State’s Women’s Gymnastics team and is Epsilon Gamma made! During her years on the squad, the team never finished lower than third place nationally! In 1978 the gymnastics team won its first National Championship. As an individual Soror Lynne is a two-time All-American on Vault and has earned four Varsity Letters. Each year, an award named in her honor is presented to the team's most improved gymnast.
Also pictured is Soror Chinnery, who is currently on the Penn State Women’s gymnastics team. The team broke their season high score with a new score of 196.575
Starting last Friday Soror Elise Elizondo participated in Penn State's 46 Hour Dance Marathon. Thon is the biggest student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer.
Soror Ricketts also attend Thon to represent Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated as the National Panhellenic Council was also recognized.
Soror Elizondo danced for all 46 hours. She described her experience as "overwhelming at first", but with all the support she had from her friends including her very own Line Sisters, members of the Gamma Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the Mu Eta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; she was able to finish all 46 hours. She believes that her experience as a dancer has been a very rewarding one.
WE ARE... Proud of you!
This past weekend, members of Epsilon Gamma attended the annual Collegiate Summit at Delta Days in the Nation's Capital. "C.L.A.S.S." was in session, where our Sorors learned how to create the perfect Social Action Toolkit. In addition, they learned how to maintain confidence and power in our Black womanhood while in the workplace as well as how to reach and stay highly connected with different resources, partnerships and collaborations.
