🌿By choosing local herbs, we support our environment, enhance sustainability, and connect with our community’s unique native plants.
🌱 Local herbs often mean fresher ingredients and a stronger, more vibrant community.

Happy Summer Solstice
🌿Lemon balm, known as Melissa officinalis, is an extremely abundant perennial herb we grow and work with here at Blue Yarrow Herbs 🌿
From the mint family, known for its aromatic leaves, it also has extensive medicinal properties.
🌿It contains compounds such as rosmarinic acid, which has shown to have potent relaxant properties. Studies suggest that lemon balm can help reduce anxious moments and promote a sense of calm, making it a valuable herb for those dealing with occasional stress & occasional anxious moments🌝
🌿Topical application of lemon balm extracts, like HYDROSOL with EO’s, can help tackle viral skin lesions and calm sensitive skin💦
🌿Due to its mild sedative effects, lemon balm is often used as a natural supoortive plant ally for sleepless nights in tea or tinctures.
Combining it with other calming herbs like passionflower can enhance its effectiveness in improving sleep quality and duration!
Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa), also known as Cimicifuga racemosa, is quite the celebrity in herbalism circles, especially for its knack in supporting healthy inflammatory responses.
Good intentions and mindful collection of Black Cohosh roots will ensure the sustainable future of our plant friend.
Since Black Cohosh is listed as an “At-Risk” on United Plant Savers species list , we must consider carefully when sourcing and purchasing its precious roots.

I have so much love and appreciation for Orange trees as they symbolize vitality and rejuvenation 🍊
Their early Spring gift, Neroli buds & flowers, may bring serenity and rejuvenation. Beyond its captivating scent, Neroli calms the mind and promotes graceful-aging skin health.
The tree’s fruits also offer ancient herbal remedies , with oranges boosting vitamin C intake and unripe green oranges supporting digestion through bitter actions.

The ancient practice of herbal oil infusion turns simple herbal ingredients into potent remedies, and Hypericum perforatum oil, commonly known as St. John’s Wort oil, stands as a quintessential example of this alctransformation.
Our Summer Solstice Oil (link in bio) is crafted through the maceration of fresh yellow Hypericum perforatum flowers in olive oil , allowing sunlight to naturally infuse the oil with the plant’s active constituents over several weeks. This process not only captures the essence of the plant but also its healing spirit, marrying tradition with the therapeutic powers of nature.
Hypericum perforatum oil is revered in herbal medicine for its extensive medicinal topical benefits, primarily due to the presence of active compounds such as hypericin, which imparts the oil its characteristic rich, red hue.
These compounds have been shown to possess healthy inflammation response & microbial balance , making the oil an excellent treatment for a range of skin conditions.
Safety & Cautions for Topical use:
While St. John’s Wort oil is generally safe for topical use, it can cause photosensitivity, leading to skin irritation or increased sensitivity to sunlight for some individuals. Always perform a patch test before widespread use and consult with a healthcare professional or qualified herbalist to ensure it’s appropriate for your health needs.
