New member alert! Meet one of our fantastic board members, Sully Walker!
āPunk is about being yourself and expressing that in this raw, unbridled way. It's because punk has deep ties to the q***r community and with so many marginalized groups. Caring is one of the most punk things anyone can do. I got into entertainment hoping to help give the representation I never got to see, so all I had to do was hear āgay theaterā and I was in. From what Iāve seen, Brick 2 is full of so much potential, itās awesome and I think we really will help give representation to people, because everyone deserves to see themselves on stage.ā
Big things are coming for Brick 2 this week. Make sure you keep an eye on these pages for more!

Time to meet another member of the Brick 2 team! Meet our resident director and producer, Pat Stone! Hereās why she decided to join Brick 2:
āIāve been hard of hearing my whole life, but it wasnāt until I started doing theater with the kids at the Rome School for the Deaf that I started to consider how much my hearing loss has effected every part of my life - and not in a good way. I miss things, and get things wrong, because I donāt hear or mis-hear what is said to me. I canāt possibly calculate what that has cost me in lost job promotions, missed networking opportunities, loss of possible friendships. I DO know that Iāve been treated like Iām stupid, incompetent, dense, uncaring, impossible, weird, out-of-it, stuck-up, embarrassing ā¦ oh, and lazy, because I ājust donāt pay attention.ā If some of the theater Brick 2 makes helps just one person to know that none of the above is true for them, that itās because they are hearing impaired, I will have done something glorious. I also want to make intense, truthful, brilliant theater, so thereās that, too.ā

Meet the team! This is our Literary Manager, Rachael Powles.
āIāve been working in theater my whole life, and Iām endlessly inspired by the creativity present here in my home in the Mohawk Valley. It's inexcusable that so many people still feel excluded from an art form that is meant to be the truest expression of humanity. As the Literary Manager of Brick 2, Iām working with this team to program plays and musicals that speak to the beautifully diverse stories of our community.ā

Meet our fearless founder and artistic director, Paris Freeman!
"Brick 2 is the kind of place where respect and understanding are the key drivers of our work lives. Theater these days is still as busy and as exciting as ever, but far too often people who need accommodations are left behind. Gone are the 18-hour days and 80-hour weeks. I want to build Brick 2 as a theater where we can LIVE for our art so that we can more truly experience and appreciate the performances whether we are on stage, backstage, or in the audience."
[Image Description: A photograph of Paris is taped to a black wall. They smile at the camera and are wearing an olive green top with a black jacket over it. The text reads "Paris Freeman, Artistic Director, They/Them" in yellow block letters.]
Allow us to introduce ourselves š Weāre making theater in the Mohawk Valley, but not in the usual ways. Watch this space to find out how you can be involved in our mission!
[IMAGE DESCRIPTIONS:
1. Text reads āWelcome To Brick 2ā in dripping paint, on a black background textured like crumpled paper. Green paint drips down from the top left corner. A splash of yellow paint in the bottom right corner. The words BRICK 2 are underlined with a swish of blue spray paint.
2. Slide 2 Reads: āWE ARE CURIOUS. Weāre always on the hunt for stories that speak to the human experience. We want to create high-quality theatrical experiences for the Mohawk Valley, and do our work with open minds and heartsā. Yellow paint splashes on the top left and bottom right corners.
3. Slide 3 Reads: āWE ARE INCLUSIVE: We believe theater is a vital tool in dismantling systems of oppression. All voices and perspectives belong on the stage. We strive to create an environment that is safe for all forms of expression and is not limited by race, gender, ability, age, or sexuality.ā Violet paint splashes in the top left and bottom right corners.
4. Slide 4 Reads: āWE ARE SUBVERSIVE: We want to make theater outside of the usual frameworks. We want to bring stories to the stage that may not have always been given a space. By subverting tropes and conventions, we aim to create theater that speaks to the truth of the human condition.ā Splashes of soft pink paint in the top left and bottom right corners.]
