Last week, the SLN CARES Richmond volunteers were honored to participate in the 2024 Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games in Richmond, VA. Our amazing team took on the role of "clerk escorts" at the swimming competitions, guiding athletes from one stage of their events to the next, holding their personal items, cheering them on, and celebrating every victory together! 👏🏆
We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to support such inspiring athletes and to witness their extraordinary talents and spirits. Thank you to the Special Olympics Virginia for hosting such a phenomenal event! 🎉🏅💙

🐾 Making tails wag and hearts melt, our visit to Richmond SPCA last week was “pawsitively” amazing!
🐶 The volunteer team split into two groups to lend a helping hand: one tackled the task of cleaning dishes and dog toys, while the other team cleaned kennel accessories. After their hard work, they were rewarded with the best part of all – spending quality time with Linguine, the adorable star of our photos! 😍
Clay Brown, Associate with SLN Capital Markets, said, “Being able to start my week on a Monday morning at the Richmond SPCA was a mutually beneficial experience, in that it allowed us to service an organization that does so much for our community, while also allowing us to take a break from the real estate world in the company of countless dogs, cats and other rescue pets. In the time we spent assisting the SPCA, we learned how hard those who volunteer on a daily basis work to create a space of comfort and belonging, along with how rewarding that effort and experience makes you feel. Volunteering speaks to so much of what S.L. Nusbaum stands for, and Richmond provides endless opportunity to fulfill that and give back.” 🌟
The Richmond SPCA is a nonprofit, no-kill humane society in Richmond, Virginia, dedicated to saving the lives of approximately 4,000 homeless dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies each year. They achieve this by transferring animals into their care primarily from shelters all over Virginia, where their lives are at risk. Additionally, the Richmond SPCA finds loving, lasting homes for about 4,000 homeless pets annually through their adoption programs. 🏡💕
