I prayed, and God answered!

I’ve learned courage has no limits. It may be perceived as unreasonable, and often, it requires us to do what’s right versus what’s expedient, even if it means we should stand alone on our principles. Because courage has an obligation to pave new roads, especially for the generations coming behind us – so that when we are gone, they can say: “They were ahead of their time.” -Lisa Hanna 🇯🇲

The experiences of minorities within the workplace experiencing “bullying and severe mistreatment” is a daily act of survival. Many women struggle daily with the abuse, and not many will advocate for them. Su***de is not the answer! Please report their acts of bullying, harassment, retaliation, discrimination, fraud, abuse of systems, and all that you know is against the law. Dr. Candia-Bailey and many more deserve a healthy life, a successful career, and a safe space to excel in. Remaining silent or turning your head does not make you a great leader; it harms the entire organization, impacting customers. Your employees are your bottom line; without them, your company cannot sustain itself.

The Hartford Department of Health and Human Services has launched a citywide Health and Wellness Campaign, along with the new HealthyHartford.info health portal. The campaign aligns with the CDC's Racial and Ethnic Approach to Community Health (REACH) Project, explicitly focusing on addressing health disparities faced by BIPOC communities. It offers various events, from physical activity classes to nutrition workshops, accessible through the portal. Yesterday, I had the privilege of being the keynote speaker for the Network Against Domestic Abuse. Over the past decade or two, I have pledged a call to action on bringing awareness to domestic violence; injustices within our workplaces, communities, and other institutions; and other health disparities!

This organization tirelessly works towards preventing family violence by offering vital services to victims of domestic abuse and advocating for healthy relationships through education and support. These leaders and staff stand at the frontlines, aiding these individuals in their transformation from victims to empowered survivors; their commitment is incredible.

Domestic violence remains a devastating issue that affects countless individuals and families worldwide. Its impact can have lifelong consequences, not only for the survivors but also for their loved ones. However, I firmly believe that each of us can contribute to addressing this problem.

Through our continued commitment, we have the power to change lives and potentially save innocent individuals within our communities from tragic and senseless deaths. Let us not forget the brutal incidents involving Jessica Edwards and Jennifer Dulos in May 2021 and May 2019, in Connecticut. Domestic violence cases continue to rise at alarming rates, particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you for your partnership and for helping with your work to allow survivors to thrive. Karen (CEO) and Team, you are beyond AMAZING! So much gratitude to the donors last night that filled the room at the SOLD OUT Purple Event Gala! Thank you to Channel WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News for your support!

Chances are, this year you'll encounter a colleague, close friend, or family member facing a mental health challenge who could use your support. But it’s hard to know what’s really going on, and even harder to know what to do. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to better understand mental health challenges (without going back to school) so you could know what to do and how to (appropriately) offer support?

Introducing Mental Health First Aid: an empowering training to recognize the signs of mental health challenges and gain practical tools to offer initial assistance and crucial support, when it matters most.

Faith Institutions Address Detrimental Impact of To***co on Black Communities

www.nomentholsunday.org

Photos from Georgia Powell's post 18/05/2023

No Menthol Sunday is the annual opportunity for faith institutions to address the detrimental impact to***co has on Black communities. Each year, faith leaders are encouraged to dedicate this day to educating congregants about the harmful effects of smoking, va**ng and the role of menthol and other flavors. This year “No Menthol Sunday” is Sunday, May 21, 2023.

This year’s theme, "Focus on Victory, Go Against the Grain" encourages communities to stand up against the to***co industry and create healthy and just to***co-free communities.

For more information about No Menthol Sunday: https://www.nomentholsunday.org/about

Smoking kills more people than alcohol, AIDS, car crashes, illegal drugs, murders, and su***des combined — and thousands more die from other to***co-related causes — such as fires caused by smoking (more than 1,000 deaths per year nationwide) and smokeless to***co use. To learn more, watch the videos provided via QR code on the VapeFreeCT card attached.
