Kids and unsecured guns are a potentially lethal combination. Fi****ms are NOT stored securely when they’re placed in an unlocked dresser or nightstand drawer, under a couch cushion or mattress, in an unlocked closet, on a high shelf or on top of the refrigerator.

We can protect kids by making sure fi****ms are always stored as securely as possible; that means storing them unloaded, locked and where possible, separate from ammunition.

On July 4, 2022, a shooter attacked a Fourth of July Day parade in Highland Park, IL. At 10:14 a.m., just 15 minutes after the parade began, a mass shooting took the lives of seven people and wounded 48 others. On a day meant for community, family, and celebration, we continue to live in fear. It’s a reminder that until our laws change, no where is safe from gun violence. But the community is resilient and rose above it, and we’re so proud to have worked with them to push for, won, and defended an to make safer. This is how we honor those we lost: by fighting for a future where gun violence is a thing of the past.

Two years ago, seven people were shot and killed and 48 others were wounded at an Independence Day parade in Highland Park, Illinois, by a gunman armed with a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic rifle and high-capacity magazines.

Nine years ago today, a white supremacist armed with a G***k handgun and a high-capacity magazine opened fire at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine Black worshippers and wounding one other person.

Nearly half of race-based hate crimes target Black people. One of the oldest Black churches in America, Mother Emanuel’s congregation was targeted solely because of the color of their skin.

We remember and honor the victims, survivors, and the entire Charleston community as we reaffirm our commitment to disarm hate in all its forms.

"General Hospital" actor Johnny Wactor, known for playing Brando Corbin on the beloved ABC soap opera, died after being shot when he interrupted thieves attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car, his mother told KABC-TV in Los Angeles.

The case is under investigation by the LAPD Central Division Homicide.

Amid concerns about kids and guns, some say training is the answer The number of U.S. children dying from gunshot wounds has climbed in recent years. Keeping guns out of reach is one way to curb the trend — others argue to teach kids to handle guns responsibly.

We are heartbroken to hear this. A loaded gun under a couch is NOT OK! Especially with children in the home. We need to do better.

3-Year-Old Fatally Shot Self After Finding Gun Allegedly Left Under Couch – Man Charged with Manslaughter Elijah Abreu Borgen’s mother called 911, telling dispatch that her 3-year-old had accidentally shot himself in the chest March 28.

Thanks to the hard work of North Carolina volunteers and other gun safety advocates, North Carolina’s largest school district unanimously passed a Secure Storage Resolution! The superintendent and staff will “regularly and consistently” provide families with information and resources on the importance of secure firearm storage.

The gun violence prevention movement is made up of parents, students, survivors, educators, gun owners, healthcare workers, community leaders, and concerned citizens, just like you, working together to fight for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence.

You might want to dismiss π Day as just a bit of silliness, but honestly, if there is a number we should pay our respects to, it’s π. It’s everywhere, and it’s not hard to make the case that our modern civilization depends on it. Look around you; how many needed parts are circles, spheres, cylinders …even sacred geometry would not exist without it (and it even pops up in equations governing electronics, too!). But most importantly, without π we would not have 528, “the universal LOVE constant”, the musical-mathematical frequency of spiritual energy fundamental to space/time. Make that circumference with your arms around a loved one and thank π today!
