Celebrating two years of tone poem quietly this weekend ~ working hard on several new Incidental Music projects, dreaming up intentional in-person events when it feels safe again, enjoying some sunny new works by Green-House and more here at the space, and reflecting in deep gratitude 🪞

Thank you to each & every one of you out there who has supported us over the past two years ~ with your ears listening to tone poem mixes, with your generosity to support our curation and the community of artists represented here, and with your heart each time you reach out 💚🌿

We are delighted to share artist & musician Julie Babb’s “Dream Collector / Windblow” single in collaboration with the artist herself.

Julie & her band recorded these two original pieces in Rochester, NY at the peak of the folk music revival movement on the east coast. Our favorite work, “Windblow”, is a gorgeous dreamy folk ballad with percussion, piano, and guitar playing together in a misty atmosphere while Julie’s vocals and original songwriting lead the group.

A delightful piece, recommended especially for fans of Dorothy Carter, Vashti Bunyan, and Linda Perhacs ~ very limited original copies available in the web / shop now. Photo background credit Julie Babb, “Promenade” 🌿

tone poem mix series 001 — tone poem 29/12/2020

Introducing the tone poem mix series 🌿 A new facet of our website, created to share specially curated sounds by tone poem & friends. The first mix, "liaudies", explores the world between traditional folklore & contemporary folk composition, featuring works from Lithuania, Estonia, and the Czech Republic. Soft sounds to ring in the new year 🔔

The tone poem mix series began as a way to weave titles available in the shop into larger musical narratives. In the process, we began making short, mellow mixes for the shop environment and thought to ask some of our friends and folks in our musical community to do the same. tone poem mixes are available directly through our website, for download & streaming, and new works will be updated regularly. Thanks so much for listening, hope you enjoy 🕯

Hello 🙌 A quick message to say, tone-poem.com is now live! We created this iteration of tone poem’s online presence as a mirror, better reflecting the spirit of the physical space. Along with a new browsing interface, the site itself will help us build a better place to connect with our community during - and after - this time of physical distance. We also added some more affordable international shipment options for faraway friends, and will continue to update our inventory weekly. We hope you enjoy exploring these new digital realms!
