One serving of spinach (2 cups raw) contain 10,694.4 μg of carotenoids!

A single serving also provides an impressive 241% DV vitamin K, 414.0 mg of polyphenols, 31% DV vitamin A, 29% DV vitamin B9 (folate), 23% DV manganese, 19% DV vitamin C, 11% DV magnesium, and 0.6 mg of coQ10.

That makes spinach one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, with a Nutrivore Score of 4548!

Considering spinach reduces in volume by ~85% when you cook it, it isn’t that much at all! 2 cups raw spinach equates to about ⅓ cup boiled spinach!

Carotenoids are a diverse group of fat-soluble phytonutrients that are responsible for giving fruits and vegetables vibrant red, orange, and yellow pigmentation. Carotenoids are powerful antioxidants and many are vitamin A precursors. High dietary intake of carotenoids reduces risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, many forms of cancer, age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.

Adding this veggie to your diet may not result in an instant swelling of your biceps à la Popeye, but it is incredibly nutrient-dense and has plenty of “helt” benefits to offer!

Worried about oxalates? Did you know bodies make oxalates too!

Where the science is now, eating high oxalate foods is not clearly a contributor to kidney stones. If you're a kidney stone former (a small % of people) your doctor might recommend you remove these foods for a short period of time. The good news that just staying properly hydrated removes 90% of kidney stones.

"But I heard oxalates bind to all the calcium and keeps you from absorbing the calcium."

The calcium bound up in the oxalate (or phytate) complex is absorbed less efficiently, but it doesn't impact absorption of other calcium in the meal. And, our gut bacteria do process a large amount of oxalate and phytates for us, which is why we do absorb some of the calcium from high-oxalate foods.

So, it only affects the calcium in the spinach, and spinach only has 5% daily value of calcium to start with, so it's not something to worry about.

Tag your friends who drink Celsius to share!

It’s important to know that this contains “Sucralose”....

This is one ingredient I avoid at all costs:

⚠️ Sucralose is an artificial sweetener made in a laboratory by reacting sugar with Chlorine.

⚠️ It has been linked to leukemia and related blood cancers in animal studies.

⚠️ Although it has no calories…Research shows that artificial sweeteners may contribute to weight gain by encouraging sugar cravings and stimulating your appetite. When you eat something sweet that has no calories, your brain is tricked into wanting to eat more because your body is not getting enough energy (i.e. calories) to be satisfied.

Celsius has some drinks sweetened with stevia instead of sucralose, but I wouldn’t personally buy those either because I don’t drink from cans and they contain other processed ingredients I don’t eat (like Natural Flavors and Erythritol).

It’s wayyy healthier to drink homemade flavored water by simply putting real fruit in sparkling water or filtered water, like limes, lemons, berries, cucumbers, melons, etc… Easy Peasy!

Or you can try Protein+Energy powder, which contains plant-based protein, caffeine, and functional mushrooms, adaptogens, and MCT oil. No cheap fillers. No unnecessary additives. Only the good stuff.

After losing his parents, Suryia, a 3-year-old orangutan, was so depressed he wouldn't eat and didn't respond to medical treatment. The vets thought he may die from sadness.
The zookeepers found an old sick dog named Roscoe on the grounds in the park at the zoo where the orangutan lived and took the dog to the animal treatment center. The dog arrived at the same time the orangutan was there being treated...
The two lost souls met and have been inseparable ever since.
The orangutan found a new reason to live, and each of them always tries his best to be a good companion to his newfound friend.
They are together 24 hours a day in all their activities. They live in Northern California, where swimming is their favorite pastime.
Although, Suryia (the orangutan) is a little afraid of the water and needs his friend's help to swim. Together they have discovered the joy and laughter in life and the value of friendship. ♥️🐾

Did you know that on any given day 15.8% of the global population has a headache? One nutrient that can help prevent headaches is magnesium, which 66.3% of Americans don’t get enough from their diets! For example, in a 1996 double-blind, placebo-controlled study, migraine sufferers who took a 600 milligrams magnesium supplement (in the form trimagnesium dicitrate) daily for four weeks experienced an impressive 41.6% decrease in migraine frequency and took about half the amount of pain medication per migraine attack.

Magnesium is an essential mineral needed by every cell in the body. As an electrolyte, it’s important for regulating fluid balance, nerve and muscle function, blood pH, and neurotransmission. It also serves as a cofactor for hundreds of different enzymes, giving it a role over 300 metabolic reactions—including pathways for cell signaling, energy production, protein synthesis, nucleic acid synthesis, and ion transport.

Magnesium also has important structural functions in cells and bone tissue. Consuming enough magnesium may help protect against a variety of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and osteoporosis.

Magnesium-rich foods include green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds (especially pumpkin seeds, almonds, and cashews), fish, legumes, whole grains, cocoa, avocados, and spices.

Would you like to know more about magnesium? Let me know and I will send you a link to a shiny new article on Nutrivore.
