It feels so warming to have people recognize me, and say “aren’t you Miss Mississippi” or “how did you like your reign Miss Mississippi”. Even though my reign is over, I’m still being an advocate and assisting single parent households as well as providing blessing bags for the community. Reigning as Miss Rankin County Plus America from 2019/2020 to reigning as your Miss Mississippi Plus America 2020/2022 was a blessing to me, and will always hold a special place in my heart. 💖👑

Kennedy won more than $400,000 dollars in scholarships & prizes and a brand new 2022 Jeep Sahara Wrangler! She is a student at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta GA, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Pi Chapter. She broke barriers in 2021 becoming the first African American woman to win the Miss Georgia Collegiate America Pageant and now the second African American woman to win the National Miss Collegiate America title!

Today is centered around sisterhood. ☺️ You never know who you will encounter on this journey. A sister, a friend, a prayer partner, hangout person, the list could go on so be open. Yes, pageants are a competition, but once again they are so much more than that!! Everyone that participates are at different stages of life, and may even have some different things to offer you..encouragement, helping hand, outfit, jewelry, prayer, etc. 💖

I’m not one that’s ever shy when going into the spotlight, and being on a stage for the very first time for a pageant was no different. As you can see below I loved and enjoyed it! The moment you hit the stage, others can tell if you practiced, are confident, and enjoying your time to shine. 🥰😍

Pageants aren’t 100% based on beauty. I believe the entire journey for anyone is the continuation building of their self confidence and character. You go in with expectations, and sometimes you find out it’s not at all what you were expecting! It’s soo much better!

Today I encourage anyone to walk in confidence and own your time! No one else can walk it like you! 💞

Every young girl should see themselves as a princess and believe they are one. This little girl believes that whole heartedly. Today is her 10th birthday, and she insisted she wears a crown to celebrate because she’s a princess. 👑

Being an advocate for your platform is great, but it’s also warming to see future young ladies want to wear a crown like you and get dolled up. 💖 You never know who you’re impacting. So remember someone is always watching your every move.

I’ve had the opportunity to share some of my life, community engagement, and encouraging moments during my journey while be your Miss Mississippi Plus America 2020-2021. Of all the things I’ve accomplished, I’m extremely proud to have met and and assisted more single parent families (my platform) than previously doing.

No one goes into life with intentions on being single parents. However, we see that this more so is becoming the case because relationships fail or both parties agree to not be together. If there isn’t a mutual agreement put in place, one parent may fall off (or simply stop caring for the child(ren) or the other one may despise the other one so no assistance is given) which results in a single parent household. Whatever the reason is, being a single parent is difficult in today’s time because everything is primarily based off a two parent household. Single parents my encouragement to you is that there are resources for you and your children to make it a little easier on you. Don’t be afraid to reach out to your community. It takes a village to raise a child. I’m here for you. A listening ear, a break, a mentor for your children, a load lightener, an errand runner, and whatever else that could make it easier on you. 💖
