Happy Wedding Day to Selena and Mason! Their wedding is closing out my books for 2022. What a busy season it has been. I'm super excited to be in Ponchatoula getting to visit a venue I just recently got to video at, it is absolutely beautiful! Thank you both for letting me be a part of your special day! 💜

As the holidays are approaching, so does engagement season! I want to give a little insight to any newly engaged couples or those that are hoping for their special someone to pop the question over the holidays. These have been the months that seem to be the most popular for the year 2023; with several brides having the same date or inquires for every weekend of that month. Vendors start booking at least 18 months out from a wedding date, so don't hesitate to reach out to your favorite vendors you have had your eye on. We absolutely hate having to turn away couples that value us and our work. 💜

Happy Wedding Day to Leslie & Kyle! A shared love of cars is what connected these two over 6 years ago; and now they get to share their love for each other for the rest of their lives. I'm grateful to be able to travel to Marksville today to capture their wedding and celebrate them becoming one. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your big day. 💜

Happy Wedding Day to one this fun adventurous couple! I've had them booked for the last 2 years and let's just say Callie has became one of my closest friends! Their wedding has me traveling down to Lafayette to Acadiana Village. I'm so happy to see everything come together and getting to be a part of y'alls big day! 💜

Happy wedding day to Tyler and Lanie! What says "Hello Fall" like an outside wedding as all those beautiful fall temperatures start moving in! I get to travel to a new to me venue in Moss Bluff and work alongside some of my favorite local vendors too! I'm so glad I get to be a part of their special day! 💜

It's another Soul + Oak wedding day! I swear this month of October weddings have flew by so quick.

Today's wedding has me down in Hammond celebrating Raeleigh and Shayne. I've known of Raeleigh for a few years as she played basketball with one of my cousins in high school. She was a bridesmaid in one of my weddings last fall and thats where we made the connection of her wanting me to capture her big day. I'm so glad to be able to capture their big day today. 💜

It's a beautiful day for a wedding! What says fall besides our fabulous weather we are having, how about a busy fall season of weddings! I'm so happy to get to be a part of Kaylee and Corey's wedding today! 💜

Sometimes it's the smallest gestures that make me love what I do even more. 💜 Hand written notes are the sweetest and I almost cried reading this one Saturday night after getting in my car. These two have became more than just another vendor I've worked with, they have became some of my closest friends. 🥰

Happy Wedding Day to one of the coolest couples I know! Today is not only their wedding day, but this week also marked the first time we worked a wedding together two years ago. We thought it was pretty neat that it fell on their wedding week!

I will be heading down south to Rayne today to capture their big day! I'm so glad I get to be a part of their big day and can't wait to celebrate the Juneau's!

Some of my friends and past co-workers can tell you that I was known for telling them and even repeating it to them so they could text it to their significant other. 😂 I just had to share this for today because it fits perfect.

It's wedding day!! Today's wedding is taking me all the way up the Shreveport. I can't wait to capture their wedding.

Today, also starts one of the busiest wedding seasons ever. So, give a little grace to your wedding vendors if you are inquiring for your future wedding. October is the super popular month this year and most of us have weddings every weekend from now till Christmas. 💜

I'm excited to welcome Cody and Allie to the Soul + Oak family! I will be getting the chance to go back to where my videography journey started, the beautiful Sugar Chateau. I can't wait to capture and be a part of their big day! 💜

"What's in a name?" In which we call a rose...or in this case how about Soul + Oak. 🤔

In most businesses the name has to do with the owner's first or last name. When I come across those that is something different, I love being able to ask how they come up with the name. I've been asked several times and I felt it was finally time to give you the little back story of how Soul + Oak came about.

I have always had a love for Oak trees because I have always found they are so beautiful. When I think of oak trees, I see something that stands big and strong. In case you did not know the oak is a very common symbol for strength and endurance. Which I think everyone agrees that is something you would want for your love and marriage to be able to be like an oak with a firm foundation and withstand so much that you may encounter. After all this, I knew I wanted Oak to be in the name; I knew I wanted it to be Oak + ______ or ______ + Oak.

That is when the real hard thinking came in, racking my brain on what could go with this to make it something I wanted to match with my branding. Of course, I can't take full credit for my complete name. After talking with a group of ladies, during my whole branding process one suggested soul for soulmates. This automatically made me think of seeing in one of my favorite movies where the couple carve their initials in a tree. I haven't personally ever done it, but I think it's pretty cute.

I know it is a little long of a post, but I felt it gives a little insight on how Soul + Oak Productions got its name. I wanted something that was timeless, romantic, and a little bit classy. 💜

One of my favorite parts at the beginning of a wedding day is doing the detail shots. I love to give a few suggestions on what items to have on hand for myself and the photographer to capture. This bride, she made her own bouquet by painting various wooden flowers to get the right shades of purple she wanted. I loved that she saved a few for us to use in the flat lay to give it some extra pop and color. How beautiful are these? I love that they are various shades and flowers. 🥰

I suggest using petals that will be used in the flower girl baskets, greenery, or various flowers that will be used in your bouquet or for decor around the venue. Don't hesitate to ask your florist for a few of these small extras to put aside for you to have. 💜

I will be out of the office this weekend as I am spending time with some family. Taking a little time to unplug before the busy wedding season and holidays kick off in full gear.
