Limit your alcohol consumption to moderate levels (up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men)
Quit smoking, as smoking can raise your blood pressure and increase your risk of heart disease
Maintain a healthy weight or work towards achieving a healthy weight if overweight or obese
Engage in regular physical activity, such as brisk walking, swimming, or cycling, for at least 30 minutes most days of the week
Limit your salt intake to no more than 2,300 milligrams per day (or 1,500 milligrams if you have more severe hypertension or certain health conditions)
