Thank you, Stephens County, for placing your confidence and trust in me as your sheriff for another term. My department and I will continue to work towards maintaining the 100% clearance rate we have achieved on closing major crimes, working to increase the 87% clearance on other crimes, maintaining a high level of safety for all residents.

I am so grateful to the hundreds of supporters who have reached out to me and my office over the course of this campaign to let us know that they appreciate us and they support us. Based on the vote today, I believe it is apparent to the majority of our citizens that my office has highly trained staff and that our department works well with other law enforcement agencies. We will continue to do both things and not just because of this election. It’s a standard for our office that has been in a place for the entire time I’ve been your Sheriff.

I also want to thank my staff who continually took the high road during this campaign and rose above some of the most hateful, vile accusations and comments our department has ever received. I am proud of each one of you and I thank you for making my job easy every single day because of your exemplary behavior and your professionalism.

Last of all, I want to thank my family and my wife, Julie. You have stood by me and worked tirelessly on this campaign and I couldn’t have made it through the events of these past few weeks without your support.

Goodnight and God Bless!

One of two arrests a few years ago of armed home invasion suspects in northeastern Stephens Count:
These two are part of many criminals responsible for committing crimes against our citizens, arrested and taken off the streets by my office over the last twelve years. Andrew Williams and Daniel Sanford are now serving their 40 year sentences in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary .

Proven Experience, Proven Leadership, and a Proven Crime Fighter!! With your continued support, I will continue the effort we have achieved over the last 12 years and keep Stephens County a safe community - to live and raise our families.

I humbly ask for your vote on June 30, 2020 in the republican primary.

Thank You,
Sheriff Wayne McKinney

A potential deadly situation occurred a few years ago 17 miles east of Marlow. An individual armed with a high powered rifle threatened to kill his stepfather and any law enforcement officer that tried to approach him. This individual was contained in a large wooded area by law enforcement. After approximately 3 1/2 hours, OHP's helicopter was able to direct Sheriff's deputies and troopers to where he was hiding. The subject was taken into custody without injury to law enforcement or himself.
The great cooperation between the Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol resulted in a potential deadly situation ending peacefully with no citizens injured.

Myself, along with the entire Sheriff’s Office, has the reputation of working with other law enforcement agencies throughout Stephens County, the state of Oklahoma and the entire nation. During my terms as Sheriff, I have been requested by the OSBI to assist in a search for a missing child in Geronimo, along with an aerial search in Carter and Love counties for a missing young female with foul play suspected. I sent deputies for a mutual aid request to Carter and Grady counties after tornadoes swept through those counties. One of the most noticeable cooperative efforts was with the Duncan Police Department in the search of an autistic 8 year old child that was swept away and drowned during flooding rains in 2016. Actually, we at the Sheriff’s Office work together almost weekly with other law enforcement agencies throughout the state to achieve that common goal: to protect the citizens of our county and this great state.

YOUR safety comes first! This has been the focus of my administration since you elected me as your Sheriff. The elected sheriff is the voice of the people. As YOUR Sheriff, I will continue to make your safety my top priority and continue to make Stephens County the safest place to live for you and your family.

I humbly ask for your vote June 30 in the primary election.

I made public safety my number one priority from the day I took office. As your Sheriff I have lived up to the promises and have a proven record of accomplishments to support it.

Under my strong leadership:
The Sheriff’s Office has a 100% clearance rate of all major violent crimes (murder, robbery, r**e, kidnapping, capital murder, child molestation, and violent home invasion). The convicted criminals are on death row or serving life, life without parole, or lengthy prison sentences.

National statistics show all other crimes investigated by the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office have an 89.7% clearance rate with ultimate arrest and conviction.

The average population in the County Jail has increased. This is a direct result of the proactive approach of the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office in the detection and apprehension of violent gang members, drug dealers, and other criminals jailed on serious charges.

One of the most high-profile and latest cases that Sheriff McKinney has overseen was the arrest and extradition of Baltazar Sanchez-Garcia who is accused of a brutal murder in rural northwest Stephens County. Sanchez-Garcia was a citizen of Mexico and was in the United States illegally in November, 2016. After the murder of Linda Salazar, Sanchez-Garcia fled back to Mexico. With the support and assistance of the Mexican government, along with the Stephens County DA’s Office, U.S. State Department and the U.S. Office of International Affairs, Sanchez-Garcia was arrested by Mexico Interpol Police and U.S. Marshalls deep in Mexico. Following a lengthy three-year extradition process, the accused murderer was returned to the Stephens County Jail, where he awaits a trial date.

Myself, along with my entire staff of deputies, investigators, detention officers and administrative personnel, are proven crimefighters for the people of Stephens County. I’m asking for your continued support and vote on June 30 so we can continue keeping our county safe.

To the Republican voters of Stephens County:

One of the principle duties of the Sheriff’s Office is to protect the safety and property of citizens. I believe it is imperative that we maintain aggressive policies to combat crime at every turn. As Sheriff, I believe it is critically important to be prepared for any future challenges that must be tackled. I have demonstrated in my three terms as your Sheriff the ability to improve upon the good, address the problem areas, and implement change where appropriate and needed.
As a conservative, I believe in being efficient and accountable with tax dollars while providing the best services possible by simply doing the right thing.
It is an honor to serve as your Sheriff and I respectfully ask for the opportunity to continue to serve the wonderful people of Stephens County for another term.
If you have any questions about me or my campaign, please give me a call at (580) 658-3638. I respectfully ask for your vote in the Republican primary on June 30th.

Twelve years ago, I made several promises to the voters of Stephens County. One of which was that I would turn the Sheriff’s Office around and instill accountability and professionalism. I’m proud to say that we have accomplished that mission and now have a Sheriff’s Office that is more responsive to the needs of all the citizens of our county. With your support and vote on June 30, 2020 we can continue the progress and keep Stephens County a safe place to live and raise a family.

Okla. bill would revamp retirement plans for sheriff’s deputies, detention officers 19/05/2020

Very proud to have been a part of this for Sheriff’s deputies and Detention officers across the state of Oklahoma. These men and women have been asked for years to do more for less. This has been a long time coming and very well deserved by county law enforcement. My many thanks to all that worked tirelessly to make this a reality.
