I’ve always prided myself on being active in the community. There is also the real public policy accomplishments.

Highlight’s of Public Policy Accomplishments & Initiatives

~ Advocating at the State and Federal level to ensure over 100+million in Mental/Behavioral Health Funding.

~ Supporting ROSC Galveston County. They are now 2nd the largest Recovery consortiums in the state.

~ Reading literacy initiatives/placed little free libraries in public parks

~ Testified to the State Legislature on behalf of the George Floyd Act

~ Testifed to State Legislature opposing gerrymandering for both major parties.

~ Work with Fatherhood mentoring initiative

~ Help start Youth Baseball initiative

I have tried my best to be a disciplined client. Yesterday afternoon, my lawyer and I watched the video of the unlawful arrest on December 7, 2023.

I am traumatized. Although the ticket was rightfully dismissed, it still does not justify the public humiliation I faced. It does not explain a night in jail. It cannot make up for the emotional and financial distress caused.

Under no circumstances should I have been arrested, forcibly removed from my vehicle, and my truck searched without probable cause. I had no warrants, no weapons or drugs. There was never a reason for suspicion. I was never a “threat.” When asked to provide proof of insurance, I was never even allowed to offer it, as Officer Bilbrey immediately became hostile.

Officer Bilbrey then lied to her supervisor and told him she asked me to step out of the car when the video shows she never did. When I asked the officers multiple times why I was being detained? None had an immediate answer. As they searched the vehicle, they should have seen proof of insurance in the glove department, including gap insurance.

I don’t want to make adversaries of GPD. Notably, I do credit Chief Bali as he was also lied to by his subordinates, and once he was made aware of the officer's lie, a formal investigation was launched.

Nonetheless, I will request a full release of the body cam footage.

On balance, no, I am not confident in a thorough and impartial investigation of Officer Bilbrey, Officer Olson, and others.

People ask me; with everything going on in your life right now. Why don’t you just quit? The simple answer. I can’t! It’s not about me, it’s never been about me. It’s about the young man studying late into the night to gain admission in college because he wants to escape poverty, it’s about fighting for the single Mom working multiple jobs and attending school to be able to have access to affordable childcare. It’s about the industrious man working in labor who deserves to earn a livable wage to adequately take care of his family! Thats why I keep pushing! No matter the obstacles.

As a kid; I would sneak to the library and read books to temporarily escape my environment. I continue to advocate for literacy today.

No matter the circumstances: the objective is always to WIN!

My sincere condolences go out to the family of Ms. Brittany Anderson. This is a terrible and unfortunate tragedy in our county. I have not realeased an official statement as I am awaiting the full facts of the case. I continue to pray for the family.

I represent people; not party. Reports indicate that Voter’s are frustrated with the status quo and the social club politics that don’t serve constituents best interest. Voter’s are tired of the same BS. Don’t come to our neighborhoods in October and tell us, you are there for us. We haven’t seen you in 2 years since the last election! I’m always in the community doing the real work; I proudly represent the people!

Due to a significant reduction in enrollment, GISD understandably has to consolidate campuses. As a former LA Morgan elementary student and understanding the legacy of Dr. LA Morgan, it is my hope that his legacy can remain entrenched in GISD education.

This year I’ve had many celebrations as well as obstacles. In the past few months those obstacles; many of my own volition; some outright injustices. No matter how insurmountable the obstacle may seem. I didn’t come this far to quit!

This election has now become personal. However, I want to clarify that I do not believe my presumed republican opponent had anything to do with recent events as some have suggested.

State Representative Leo-Wilson and I have publicly told anyone who will listen that we are sincere friends. State Representative Leo-Wilson is of upstanding moral character. In good conscience, I will not allow anyone to disparage her or any member of her campaign or family.

Yes, we have vastly different views on public policy, which will be debated throughout the election.

My mention of this election now being personal is because of my unpleasant reminder as to why I fight so hard for disenfranchised and vulnerable communities. I was reminded that no matter your social status or your money, there remain two justice systems in our country that continue to be seemingly impartial to minorities and the indigent.

On balance, I am grateful for the concerns of friends on both sides of the aisle who are as authentically outraged as I am as it pertains to the issue of mental health and criminal justice reform.
