Nabeela Syed for State Rep
Nabeela Syed is a Democratic candidate running for State Rep in Illinois's 51st House District.
Thank you Sierra Club Illinois for your endorsement of our re-election campaign! I'm proud to work on efforts to protect our environment and advocate for clean air and water.
We filed our petitions! Thank you to the volunteers who helped us gather over 2,600 petition signatures and every single person who signed their name to get me back on the ballot in 2024!
The conversations I’ve been having at the doors are a reminder of how honored I feel to represent our community and fight for prescription drug affordability, public education, gun safety, reproductive health care, and so much more in Springfield. I’m grateful to everyone who signed their name to help me continue this work for the 51st District. Thank you 💙
I’m so sad to hear of Susan MacDonald’s passing. Susan was a force in local Democratic politics, and she served as the treasurer for Greater Palatine Area Democrats for many years. I first met Susan when I called her out of the blue to ask for her help in opening a campaign committee. We had never met before, and yet she took the time to patiently walk me through the process. I most recently saw Susan at her doorstep when I was knocking on doors. She laughed and said that I didn’t need to bother coming to her door, but selfishly, I wanted to see her friendly face. Susan was kind and welcoming, I will miss her dearly. I’m sending my sincerest condolences to Susan’s family and friends. ❤️
We just wrapped up our last week of session for the year and our freshman democratic caucus had to celebrate with a selfie! 📸
I’m happy to be back in the district to prepare for our next session. We’re working on legislation to make prescription drugs more affordable, expand coverage for breast cancer screening, protect victims of sexual assault, hold private utilities more accountable, and so much more. 2024 here we come!

Rep. Nabeela Syed for State Rep is doing the work to make molecular breast imaging more accessible and affordable for Illinoisans. She recently teamed up with local nonprofit, My Density Matters, to push for state and federal legislation addressing gaps in breast cancer medical coverage.

Felt so much love in Hawthorn Woods while collecting petition signatures 🥹💙 Shannon not only signed, but took a few petition sheets herself to collect signatures.
Shannon and I spoke about gun safety and the need to continue fighting for measures that keep our communities and kids safe. This past session, I co-sponsored a bill to hold gun manufacturers accountable for marketing to kids, and we have more work to do.
A classic Chuck and Nabeela selfie. 💙 It’s been great to see familiar faces at the doors as I’m collecting petition signatures! Team Nabeela has been knocking on doors, but we can also schedule a time to come get your signature! Fill out this form if you’d like us to stop by: nabeelasyed.com/petition.
I met Daniel at the doors and his first question to me was, “what are you doing to help students with disabilities?”
Daniel was a Special Education Teacher and I was excited to tell about one of my bills that was just signed into law! It ensures all students with disabilities receive adequate information to enroll in the PUNS (Prioritization of Urgency of Need for Services) database!
Grateful to hear from so many advocates in our community. 💙
Quick paleta break while canvassing!
A kind community member saw me knocking on doors and introduced himself. He said he was excited to meet his State Rep and offered me a paleta! Grateful for the wonderful conversations we’re having every day with people across the district. 💙

Yesterday was the first day of petition season and it was so nice to see some familiar faces at the doors!
I met Clyde last year and saw him again today! We spoke about how we can better support people with disabilities in our state. I was excited to share the progress we’ve made in supporting family caregivers and direct support professionals, but Clyde and I agree that we still have lots of work to do in this space. I’m looking forward to continuing this work in Springfield when we return next session!
PETITION SEASON IS HERE! 🎉💙
