Egg tip of the day! πŸ“πŸ₯š

Do you know your eggs?

No filters... just a great visual πŸ‘€of the difference between organic, "free range" eggs from the store(on the left) and truly pastured eggs on the right.🍳

Pastured eggs have a deeply colored yolk, because they come from chickens 🐣 that are allowed to forage on their species specific diet, eating grass🌾, bugs, and wormsπŸ› and truly roam free, the way they are intended to. Pastured eggs are incredibly more nutritious than their conventional counterparts (yes, even those organic, free range ones.)

They have almost twice as much vitamin E & A, beta carotene and omega 3's, plus less cholesterol and saturated fat (although neither of those are actually badπŸ˜‰).

When you buy cage free or free range eggsπŸ₯š from the store, do you know what that actually means? Legally, it means having "access" to the outdoors, usually one or two small openingsπŸšͺ the size of a cat door, that leads to a screened porch that typically doesn't even have any grass! Most hens never even go outside because they are living in HUGE, filthy industrial aviaries with on average, ONE square foot of space- not even enough to turn around freely or extend their limbs! Which means you're paying more πŸ’Έ for nothing- the hens aren't living better, eating better, or producing more nutritious eggs for you.😑

So how do you get your hands on humane, uber nutritious eggs? Most stores carry pastured eggs now or you could consider getting some backyard chickensπŸ₯ or finding someone who does to buy your eggs from. You'll know you have good ones by the color of their yolk!

I love adding banana into my morning shakes so I was so excited about this combo πŸ˜„

Did you know that eating refined carbs in the morning with no protein (think a bagel or a doughnut) can spike your blood sugar and stress out your pancreas??? The spike in blood sugar spikes your cortisol levels and high levels of cortisol coupled with your morning carbs and sugar can cause your body to store fat 😱 It also leaves you feeling sluggish the rest of your day.

Starting your day with foods that are low on the glycemic index will help to regulate your blood sugar levels. My favorite start to the day is my protein smoothie. I add in some veggies and healthy fats and I am energized and ready to start my day πŸ™Œ

Where are my snackers?! I love my treats so I make sure to keep some on hand that won’t take me way off course on getting to my goals. This is one of my favorites.

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Bars

- 1 cup creamy nut butter
- 2/3 cup raw honey (local to you is best)
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 2 1/2 cups gluten free rolled oats
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips (Enjoy Life brand is my favorite)
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds *
- 3 Tbsp dried fruit **

*switch up the seeds for chopped cashews or another nut to make it more to your taste

**I used dried blueberries and cherries. Whatever fruit you choose make sure they are not packed with sugar. StoneRidge Orchards has a ton of options made with just a bit of cane sugar.

If you are looking for a quick delicious breakfast try out these mug biscuits! I did an egg sandwich and it took me about 5 minutes total (that includes the time to get the ingredients together πŸ˜„)

Gluten Free mug biscuit
1 Tablespoon coconut oil
1 coconut flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg

In a mug melt oil, mix in all ingredients and microwave for 90 seconds

I cut mine in half and toasted the insides and added a fried egg. Easy, quick, clean meal when you are craving a sandwich πŸ™Œ

Almond butter cups! Vegan, GF, will not spike blood sugars and 100% compliant on my 30 Days to Healthy Living Program

- Melt 1/2 cup coconut oil on stove.
- Mix coconut oil with 4 scoops of Arbonne chocolate protein powder
- Add more of either ingredient to desired consistency.
- Pour the mixture into silicone mold and fill 1/2 way.
- Freeze for 5 minutes.
- Layer desired amount of almond butter (or any but butter other than peanut butter) into each mold then pour remaining chocolate mixture over top.
- Freeze for 10 more minutes before enjoying! Store in freezer!

Don’t judge to harsh. I swapped some brown rice flour for coconut flour and forgot to take into account the density of the flours so I didnt add enough liquid to make them super muffiny.

These little nuggets are a guilt free snack made with pumpkin and carrots and NO added sugars

πŸŽƒ is packed with beta carotene, vitamin C & E, iron and folate. Al of which help to strengthen your immune system.

πŸ₯• have fiber that help keep blood sugar levels under control. Vitamin A & beta-carotene have shown evidence that they can lower your diabetes risk. Carrots are also packed with vitamin K and calcium which are important for your bone health.

While these ones may not look the best, my son came back asking for more πŸ™Œ

Hey Lemon πŸ‹ lovers...Check out this twist on lemon poppyseed muffins…in pancake πŸ₯ž form! I’m drooling over these Lemon Poppyseed Protein Pancakes.

Ingredients:
ΒΌ cup FeelFit Pea Protein Shake, Vanilla Flavor
1 cup almond flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1Β½ tbsp poppyseeds
A pinch of ground nutmeg
I tsp lemon zest
2 tbsp agave nectar, coconut nectar or real maple syrup
1 whole lemon (juice only)
1Β½ cups water or almond milk (may need to add more if needed)

Directions:
Combine all the dry ingredients in one bowl and the wet ingredients in another bowl. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until incorporated. Add more liquid (if necessary) until the batter reaches the consistency you’re looking for. Pour onto a pan or griddle and flip when ready. Enjoy!

Try out this Fizz Stick Icy Popsicle Recipe!

RECIPE:

Mix 1 fizz stick packet in water, pop into popsicle tray (with sticks for easier eating!) and freeze. Once completely frozen, you can enjoy!

If it’s too cold where you are, try out this Hot Chocolate Recipe!

RECIPE:

Mix 1 Scoop of FeelFit Chocolate Pea Protein in a mug of hot water, use a frother to stir well or blend it real quick and pour it back into your mug. Top it with some unsweetened almond milk and enjoy!

Cookie dough- omgeeeee!!
If you haven’t tried this yet, it is a must! This is a favorite in our house when we are wanting a sweet treat.

Vegan protein β€œcookie dough”
❀️❀️❀️
1 scoop Arbonne Vanilla protein powder
1-2 Tbs almond butter
Approx 1/4 cup dairy free milk to mix to cookie dough consistency
1/4 tsp sea salt
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients. Mixture should resemble the consistency of cookie dough. Top with dairy free chocolate chips (enjoy life brand are good) and enjoy! Roll remainder of what you don’t eat into balls and refrigerate for a quick treat later!
