Anyone can make a cheap website that looks pretty. Squarespace, Godaddy, Wix, WordPress, all have cheap websites and free templates you can install in minutes.
The most important thing that many of these local service business owners forget is the main goal of the website:
Getting as many of the prospective customers on your website to reach out and ask about your services.
This is called “conversion rate.” Essentially how many website visitors can you convert into people calling?
Here’s how you get a website that converts
First: Understand your service! For example, let’s imagine you were a tree service business in Montana that only worked mostly on large scale tree removal projects.
Your business doesn’t do small tree removal or landscaping, or planting, or stump removal.
Second: Target your ideal client! For example: You know from experience that large tree removal jobs come from commercial companies, or high net worth residential jobs.
Third: You should make it obvious when these types of potential customers visit your site they are clearly and obviously sure they are in the correct place.
Use specific wording, answer the most common questions, list the specific services exactly.
Fourth: Make it incredibly easy for a website visitor to reach out. Use clickable buttons, simple and clearly laid out forms, make your site mobile friendly, and add the right call to actions.
If you implement these solutions on your site, you’ll get more customers. Period.

3 Problems every local service business needs to solve or get no customers online:
1) Be A Visible Option:
Go on google right now, and search up your service in your location. Just like this: your service + your location … Here’s a couple examples: Tree Service Daytona Oh, Plumber Hartford Ct, Asphalt Paving Austin Tx
If you don’t see either your website, an ad for your business, or your google business profile (google maps listing) you are missing out on 99% of all the customers.
Your business needs to be on that first page of google!
2) Get the click:
So you’ve just googled your service in your location and on the first page of google a bunch of different businesses show up. Your ideal customer is doing the same many times per day.
Which business do they click on and why did your customer choose them? How did your competitor stand out and get the click? Your business needs to stand out and get the clicks, or you’ll never get customers online.
Try it yourself, see which business you’d choose and ask yourself why you chose that business.
3) Get the customer to reach out
When your customer clicks on an ad, website or GBP, what do they see? What makes them want to reach out?
When the potential customer “lands” on your website, landing page or GBP two things need to be in place:
ONE: It needs to be incredibly clear that your business can solve their problem quickly and easily.
TWO: It needs to be super easy to reach out to you. One click/one tap away.
