Last night I was hoping to catch photos of the aurora borealis since there was a huge solar flare. Instead I think I caught photos of the Milky Way. This was a 10 second exposure on my phone. So exciting I had to share. ✨😍🧚🏼💜🌈🦄

Everyone who comes in contact with your horse should be aware of their emotional well being and the impact it has on training.

Emotional wellbeing is essential for a horse in training because a mentally stable and content horse is more receptive to learning and forming positive associations with training exercises. Horses experiencing stress or anxiety may exhibit resistance, aggression, or lack of focus, hindering their progress and potentially leading to negative behaviors or injuries. By ensuring emotional wellbeing, trainers can create a supportive environment that encourages trust and cooperation, leading to more effective communication and a harmonious partnership.

Case study: I have a horse in training in preparation for US Nationals. Because he does not deal will with change, my trainer has started to replicate stalling and living conditions Jack (he is out on pasture 24/7 unless the weather is bad) will need to deal with for the week he is there.

The fireworks and resent storms triggered a PTSD response that occurred at a show where Jack was being stalled in an outside stall with driving rain…even though he was provided with a modicum of protection, he was overly stressed and couldn‘t perform at the level he should have.

We consulted and worked out a plan to assist with this trauma response, with an essential oil blend that works specifically with trauma and grounding. Plus we will be utilizing ktaping and acupressure to stimulate points that can be used to calm the mind.

If you have an equine partner who is having difficulty adjusting to change or a trauma response, call 405.407.5862 to set up a consultation with you or those that work with your horse.🤩

Follow up on the second horse:

Assessment shows the mare has more swing in her hind end AND she is able to overstep her front hoof print now. I can’t wait to see what improvements there are with a second massage.

Follow up on the first horse:

There is a behavioral improvement. She looks more comfortable standing and walking. Wow!

Today was massage client day!

The first horse had been exhibiting behavioral changes after a return of EPM. Medication was completed and had begun the rehab process. Weakness has been noted on the right side. The entire left side of the horse was sore from compensating for the right side. This horse is rescheduled for next week.

The second horse only wanted her bum massaged. Her right hip is more mobile than the left when stretches were performed. Myofascial release was performed. Movement has improved. This horse is also rescheduled for next week.

Consistent massages help the horse’s assimilate the changes made with muscular relaxation.

To schedule your appt, call 406.407.5862.

Dobby finally had her spay surgery and is resting quietly. Dobby identifies as a boy! No really Dobby is a girl. The vet aged her at 3 months of age and will be back at the vets for another round shots in another month.

She is teething and is slowly falling in love with her scratching post. She plays well with cats, dogs and older kids. The youngest she has been exposed to is 6 years of age.

If you are looking for a kitten filled with love and curiosity, Dobby is your girl! Call 405.407.5862 for a meet up. 💜💜💜😍✨🧚🏼🦄🌈

Mental well-being is essential for living a balanced and fulfilling life, influencing various aspects of health and daily functioning. It directly impacts physical health, with poor mental health linked to conditions such as heart disease and a weakened immune system. Good mental health enhances emotional resilience, enabling individuals to cope with stress, adapt to change, and recover from adversity, ultimately contributing to a higher quality of life. It supports productivity and performance in work and academic settings, fosters healthy relationships, and encourages community engagement. Moreover, mental well-being helps prevent harmful behaviors and promotes positive habits, facilitating personal growth and emotional regulation. By prioritizing mental health, individuals can experience greater happiness, life satisfaction, and overall well-being, contributing to a healthier, more productive society.

I have been working with a couple of repeat clients on releasing their gelding scar. Yes. It is a thing. The gelding scar places tension in the hind end affecting movement and providing tension in the pelvic area. The benefit of repeat massages is I learn the language of your horse‘s body. In this case, I could feel the release of gelding scar in the sacrum and the lower lumbar region while my hand was on the scrotal sack. The sigh of relief was palpable. (Additional benefits of releasing the gelding scar are located in the comments.)

If your horse is exhibiting compensatory patterns in the hind end, pain or exhibiting behavioral issues, contact me at 405.407.5862 to schedule a massage.

Busy weekend. The highest compliment I can receive from my client is a nicker saying, “I am so glad you are here!”

Cooking potions for a dog with idiopathic rage syndrome. This essential oil blend has a drop of jasmine….and OMG it smells heavenly. The owner will get a couple of acupressure points to assist with calming the mind of her puppers. Will let you know how it rolls. (Personally both my dogs and cats have enjoyed the smell.)

Choosing a certified animal aromatherapist for your animal friend is essential for several reasons:

Expertise and Knowledge:

Understanding of Essential Oils: Certified animal aromatherapists have in-depth knowledge of essential oils, including their properties, benefits, and potential risks. They understand which oils are safe for animals and in what concentrations.

Animal Anatomy and Physiology: They are trained in animal anatomy and physiology, allowing them to understand how different animals may react to various essential oils.
Safety:

Avoiding Toxicity: Some essential oils can be toxic to animals. A certified professional knows which oils to avoid and how to administer them safely to prevent adverse reactions.

Proper Application: They understand the correct methods of application, such as diffusion, topical application, or dilution, ensuring the animal's safety and comfort.
Customized Treatment:

Individual Assessments: Certified aromatherapists assess each animal individually, considering factors such as species, size, health condition, and temperament. This allows them to create a customized aromatherapy plan tailored to the specific needs of the animal.

Holistic Approach: They often take a holistic approach, considering the animal's overall well-being, including diet, environment, and emotional state.

Professional Training:

Accredited Programs: Certification typically requires completing an accredited program that includes extensive training, practical experience, and often ongoing education. This ensures that the aromatherapist is up-to-date with the latest research and techniques.

Ethical Standards: Certified professionals adhere to a code of ethics, ensuring they provide safe, effective, and ethical care for animals.

Results and Efficacy:

Evidence-Based Practices: Certified aromatherapists use evidence-based practices and stay informed about the latest research in animal aromatherapy. This increases the likelihood of achieving positive results.

Monitoring and Adjustment: They can monitor the animal's response to treatment and adjust the plan as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.

Peace of Mind for Pet Owners:

Professional Accountability: Certified animal aromatherapists are accountable to professional organizations, providing an additional layer of trust and reliability.

Insurance and Liability: Many certified professionals carry insurance, offering protection and peace of mind to pet owners.

Support and Guidance:
Education for Owners: They provide guidance and education to pet owners on how to use essential oils safely at home, empowering them to continue supporting their animal's well-being.

Long-Term Care: Certified animal aromatherapists can offer long-term care plans and ongoing support, helping to maintain the animal's health and address any new issues that arise.

Overall, choosing a certified animal aromatherapist ensures that your animal friend receives safe, effective, and personalized care from a knowledgeable and ethical professional.

Active rest: Three ways to keep your horse in shape while preventing burnout 07/07/2024

The best way to rest and give your horse a break isn’t thowing them out to pasture. It is a change in routine, learning a new skill or going out for a simple trail ride.
